Wednesday, December 20 finds the Sacramento Kings on the road to their hosts the Brooklyn Nets. Both squads are earmarked for the lottery, but each has made strides in specific areas of their overall games.
Sacramento arrives on the second night of a back to back effort. The Kings are fresh off a big upset victory over the 76ers. After looking like they might turn a corner having won 3 of 4 the Nets have lost the past three in a row.
The past two seasons the squads have split the two game season series. The Kings hold the all-time record having bested the Nets in 47 of the teams 85 matches.
With so many youngsters on the Kings the fact their reserve unit is making strides is a positive. Sacramento boast the top scoring bench unit in the NBA. That reserve unit helped produce 63 points on Sunday in Toronto.
Unfortunately, the Raptors boast their own youthful bench who took care of business in the second half holding the Kings to 30 points total. Last night the reserve unit outscored Philly 48-39. Sacramento’s bench is the top scoring reserve unit (49.4) and has the best differential (plus 12.7).
The Raptors crowd at the ACC gave Vince Carter a standing ovation as he left the court with 11.7 seconds remaining in the match since it may be his last competitive visit to the team who drafted him and where he made his mark in the NBA.
De’Aaron Fox sat out the game versus the Raptors, but was back in for the Sixers game, however he reaggravated his quad so may miss tonight. George Hill was out vs. the 76ers, but is listed as likely to play. Malachi Richardson also returned in Philly after nursing an ankle injury.
Jahlil Okafor and Nik Stauskas got their first action in Nets jerseys in Toronto. Stauskas in particular looked sharp and seems like he’ll fit well into Kenny Atkinson’s high pace, high octane offense.
Like the Kings the Nets have one of the better reserve units in the Association.
While the Nets are without D’Angelo Russell and Jeremy Lin the reserve unit keeps them in games.
That and the no quit effort Kenny Atkinson’s squad play with. Prior to tweaking something in the Raptors game Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had been producing some of his more solid outings with five consecutive double digit outings (he’s had nine points in his last two).
Caris LeVert has also taken a step forward having to run more playmaking duties off the bench.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Nets are 7-3 in the teams last 10 head to head
- Teams are 6-4 Over/Under in last 10 head to head
- Nets are 8-2 ATS in the teams last 10 matchups
Free Sacramento Kings vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction: Back-to-back plays factor for Kings
Although the Kings boast a squad full of youthful talent and grizzly vets (no pun intended to Zach Randolph and Vince Carter who moved to Sacramento from Memphis) they will arrive having played the night prior.
This coupled with a few days off for Brooklyn should give them the advantage.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Nets -5.5
The Kings have played five previous back-to-back sets this season and lost each time on the second night. Rested legs will play a factor.
