Wednesday, November 23rd the Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks play the first of two contests. Sacramento will host the second meeting on January 4th.
The Kings arrive to complete a back-to-back set having defeated the Grizzlies on Tuesday 113-109 while the Hawks played Monday losing 102-114 to the Cavaliers.
Last season, the squads played twice with the Hawks winning both contests. The Hawks hold the all-time record having bested the Kings in 161 of their 321 matches.
Sacramento Kings
The Kings extended the winning streak to seven with the victory in Memphis although the Grizzlies kept it interesting pushing them to clutch time.
Many of the Kings are benefitting from new head coach Mike Brown, but perhaps no player is showing the veteran boss’ impact as much as De’Aaron Fox. In his sixth season as a pro, Fox is posting career-bests in points (25.4) and from the perimeter shooting 38.2 percent.
He’s also playing much improved on the defensive side of the court, albeit with the Kings still having major hurdles to clear on that side of the hardwood.
Offensively, the Kings are making a mark as one of the best on that side of the hardwood moving onto the top ladder rung scoring 121.4 points per game.
Similarly, Sacramento is performing above average with their proficiency with the best field goal percentage shooting 50.2%, and ranking fifth on the perimeter shooting 38.0%.
As stellar as the Kings have functioned on offense they are equally as abysmal defensively as evidenced by their 26th rank for opponent scoring per game (117.5).
Sacramento ranks 29th in both opponent field goal (50.2%) and perimeter (39.2%) percentage only missing out on the bottom basement position thanks to the Spurs.
Fittingly with the Cinderella season, the Kings are one of the very few teams with no injuries.
Atlanta Hawks
I’ll reiterate from my prior post the win on Saturday was expected but never should’ve been in question. SEVEN Raptors rotation players were out including their best player (Pascal Siakam), another starter (Gary Trent Jr.), and four others who’ve all started games this season.
Toronto had only nine players dressed including both G-League players so while Trae Young took the time to wave goodbye to the Raptors bench at game end he might regret giving the team who already beat them by 30 inspiration for their next matchup in January.
The first game following their OT win featured the Cavaliers – – another team who started to drink their own Kool-Aid but whose head coach reminded them they’d won nothing and seemingly got them refocused to play hard defensively.
It’s a lesson Nate McMillan might want to emulate although he’s in a tougher position because the worst offender on Atlanta is their star and ridiculing him publicly could be detrimental to his job safety.
On the season, the Hawks rank 10th in scoring with 114.4 points per game. Atlanta is tied for 18th with the Grizzlies shooting 46.4 percent from the field and ranks 27th on the perimeter shooting 32.0 percent.
Defensively, the Hawks allow opponents to score 114.4 points per game tied in 20th with the Wolves and allow their opponents to shoot 46.4 percent from the field (14th) and 33.2% from the perimeter (5th.
De’Andre Hunter (illness) was upgraded to probable for Wednesday. Bogdan Bogdanovic (knee) is out indefinitely.

Free Sacramento Kings vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction:
I know the Kings are playing in a back-to-back but frankly, I’m surprised the Hawks are favored by so much. I’ll jump all over those points thank you very much and I also won’t be surprised if the Kings net their eighth win in a row!
