The Kings are off to a good start as they look to finally turn the corner in the Western Conference. This is the start to a long road stretch.
Atlanta has been perfect but they have played two Eastern Conference alsorans. Their schedule is soft early.
This will be the only trip to Atlanta for the Kings this season.
Is this the year they finally turn things around…or the year they finally deal Demarcus Cousins?
Winning is always the best medicine and so far they are 2-1 with cousins leading the team at 30ppg.
Rudy Gay is second on the team at 22pg but after that it really drops off. To the point that nobody else on the team is averaging even 10ppg. I know it is a small sample size but I am not sure that can really work.
A guy they should be able to count on for points in Arron Aflalo. He has been dismal shooting the ball from the field at 31% but surprisingly good from three – 44%. Its like he can’t make a two pointer.
The opposite has been true for Ben McLemore. He is shooting over 50% from the field and maybe he is finding a role as a gunner off the bench.
It seems like the Kings are still mixing and matching to find the right combinations.
The Hawks are not supposed to be very good this season but a week early schedule has them 2-0, they beat Washington and Philadelphia.
With no Jeff Teague and no Al Horford Paul Milsap has a great chance to elevate his game and he is averaging over 20ppg. His other numbers are off career norms but lets wait a little longer before we panic.
Another gut taking advantage of an opportunity is Tim Hardaway Jr. He is second on the team in scoring.
The Hawks are very good at sharing the rock, so much so that 6 player are averaging 10 or more points per game. Nobody is averaging even 30mpg.
Those numbers should grow to as Dwight Howard and Kent Bazemore are currently behind that number. They have to get more out of them
In the case of Howard they have to be pleased that he is ripping down 13.5 boards per game. His shooting has to be better.
The same goes for Bazemore who is shooting an ugly 28%. They will keep playing though because those are their two best defensive players.

Free Sacramento Kings vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction:
It is easy to see why the Hawks are pretty significant favourites in this one. They are the home team and have yet to lose which will draw some public money for sure.
At the same time, even with Howard they are going to have a tough time shutting down Cousins.
