Friday, November 16 finds the Portland Trail Blazers meeting up vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves as they enter the second month of the 2018-19 regular season. Portland last played the Lakers Wednesday losing for the second consecutive time after owning the Lakers for the past several years. While the retooled Timberwolves got an impressive victory over the recently beasting Pelicans.
Last season, the teams split the season series and this year the Blazers took the initial meeting. The Trail Blazers hold the all-time record having bested the Timberwolves 82 of their 115 matches.
Portland Trail Blazers
After 16 consecutive victories over the Lakers the Blazers have lost the last two meetings. Although trends are always due to shift at some point these losses may point more to the fact Portland has played nine of their 14 games at home.
That dynamic shifts this week as the Blazers play their next six on the road.
The big three trio of Damian Lillard (31), CJ McCollum (23) and Jusuf Nurkic (21) combined for 75 points Wednesday. While the Blazers bench scored just just 17 points.
Granted the Wolves don’t have massive reserve depth either, so benches should play a factor in the outcome.
Seth Curry left the Lakers game with a right knee injury and is questionable for Friday match versus Wolves. Maurice Harkless (left knee soreness) timetable to return is unclear.
The Jimmy Butler-less Wolves won in with their new teammates and the youngsters most greatly affected by the ongoing Buckets drama stepped up immediately.
Specifically, Karl-Anthony Towns notched 25 points along with 16 rebounds while Andrew Wiggins posted an impressive stat line of 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, a block and hit four of his nine 3-point attempts.
Robert Covington (13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists) and Dario Saric (9 points, 3 rebounds 1 assist) fit in seamlessly. Wiggins quipped they played as if they were a part of this team forever.
Derrick Rose (left knee soreness) missed the game versus the Pelicans and is questionable. Jerryd Bayless (knee sprain) is expected to be out until late November.
NBA Betting Trends:

Free Portland Trail Blazers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Prediction:
Odds are off as of posting with this not being a simple game to predict. Will the shine of post Jimmy have worn off come Friday? And how will the Blazers respond to losing like they did in LA?
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Portland battle to close finish. PDX -1
If this game was in Portland I lean the Blazers way and even with it in Minny I’m inclined to think this will be a battle of Northwest rivals with it coming down to clutch time.
