Portland Trail Blazers
In seasons past, a trip to Philadelphia meant a win and a cheesesteak. The Trail Blazers learned on Wednesday night that it isn’t the case anymore. And they still make the cheesesteak in Philly.
Joel Embiid scored 28 and grabbed 12 rebounds and the Sixers blew the doors off the Blazers. Portland’s next trip is to a city where visitors have enjoyed playing in the last few seasons, too.
And a trip to Brooklyn still does usually mean a win but even that is getting tougher. The Nets are 4–4 at home this season and played the Warriors tough in their latest loss.
The backcourt of Lillard and McCollum is getting over 45 points a night and Jusuf Nurkic has been a solid third option down low for Portland but the Blazers are just really thin after that.
Shabazz Napier is coming on strong and has already had some big games. He’s also had some big games in New York City as a collegiate and his game will likely travel over the bridge to Brooklyn. Look for Napier to make some big shots off the bench.
Brooklyn remains without DeAngelo Russell but the Nets have played well in his absence. Spencer Dinwiddie and Allen Crabbe can get buckets as the starting backcourt.
Despite not playing a true point guard position in college, Dinwiddie is there now for the Nets and putting up assist numbers. He had 10 in the Nets’ last game against Cleveland.
Joe Harris and Caris LeVert have also proven to be a valuable tandem off the bench. In all, all four of those guards were more accomplished than Russell in college but didn’t get the accolades coming to the pro game. But all four are performing better than their draft position would have otherwise suggested.
Tyler Zeller is often overmatched at center but he won’t be in this game with Portland’s emphasis on the perimeter. He should be right at home in an ugly game in the paint with Nurkic.

Free Portland Trail Blazers vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction: Portland escapes with a solid fourth quarter.
This game will be close but that’s why I like Portland. Lillard and McCollum are shotmakers down the stretch and I think they will each make some big shots in this one.
Both will be able to get to their spots on the floor against whoever Brooklyn throws at them man-to-man. I’ll take the Blazers by five.
