Part of the reason the Magic are struggling is the absence of injured forward Franz Wagner. But perhaps the more concerning absence is that of Jalen Suggs. It’s been said that Suggs is the glue of this squad, and he’s the one true point guard on the team that keeps the offense moving.
Contributing to Philly taking a while to get on track is the injuries they’ve dealt with, and therefore lack of time to develop chemistry. To wit, the 76ers are one of four teams without a lineup that has played at least 75 minutes together.
As for the 76ers, Embiid is finally healthy and appears to have transitioned into better physical shape. That said, clearly, the 76ers are now focused on Tyrese Maxey as their cornerstone, so how Embiid gels with the guard will have a major impact on the team’s ability to succeed at an elite level.
Ultimately, I can’t get past the Magic’s inability to win consecutive games, so I’m rolling with the 76ers to win and cover.
