Philadelphia 76ers
Philly found themselves in what I’m sure they considered a “must-win” situation on Monday night, and boy did they play like they had something to prove. They had 6 players score 15+ points on their way to a 145-123 win at home.
Ben Simmons bounced back in a big way after a disappointing performance in game one. He messed around and got a triple-double to the tune of 18 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds, and shot 75% from the field.

The 76ers bench was able to bounce back in a big way after their lackluster performance in game one that saw them score a dismal 26 points. Boban and Mike Scott led the way for the bench in this one, scoring 16 and 15 respectively in a 61 point effort from their bench as a whole.

Coach Brett Brown must have lit a fire under this team after the Nets had made a run to pull the game within 2 points at halftime. The 76ers came out and shot 75% from the field in the 3rd quarter, scoring 51 points and taking a 116-87 lead into the 4th quarter.
Although Embiid has been banged up this series and averaging just 22.5 minutes per game, he’s been giving Brooklyn’s big men Jarrett Allen and Ed Davis fits. After a 5-15 effort from the field in game one, Embiid bounced back in a big way going 8-12 from the field in game two. They only answer for Embiid the Nets seem to have is to foul him, as he has been getting to the rim at will, and has cashed in on 19 of his 26 free throw attempts for the series.
Brooklyn Nets
Well, chalk that last game up as one to forget for the Nets, who allowed Philly to score a whopping 145 points in a game that was over shortly after the 2nd half began.
80 of the teams 123 points came from the Nets bench, who have been impressive all season long. Unfortunately for them, that number is inflated due in part to the large deficit they had faced in the 2nd half. After a 23 point performance in game one, up and comer Caris Levert failed to get anything going from the field in game two, going 3 of 8 from the field for 13 points in his 20 minutes of action.

Brooklyn’s All-Star guard D’Angelo Russell just could not seem to get himself going in this one, missing several shots from just outside 10 feet early on in the contest on his way to a 6-16, 16 point night. Expect a much more motivated effort from Russell in game 3 in front of his home crowd.
The lone bright spot for the Nets in this one was 6th man Spencer Dinwiddie, who went 8-16 with 19 points in his 21 minutes on the floor, building off of a solid game one in which he added 18 in a winning effort. The Nets chances in this series rest heavily on the shoulders on Dinwiddie and Levert, who will need to compliment Russell’s scoring ability if they plan on keeping up with Philly’s high scoring offense.
Look for the Nets to go out and take game 3 behind their home crowd. Russell should get back on track after a mediocre performance and the team should be pleased to come into this one with a chance to take control of the series.
