Orlando continues to stink it up. It’s a wonder to me how the Magic is still even close to any team in the Eastern Conference, or the entire NBA. But the Magic has just one less win and one more loss than Atlanta.
Orlando has lost four out of five, including the last one at home to the John Wall-less Wizards (though Washington is clearly better without whatever version of Wall it was trotting out there prior to shutting him down).
Nikola Vucevic is out. Aaron Gordon is questionable. Gordon has had a sore hip flexor but he might be back in time to play this game.
Orlando actually hasn’t been as awful as I made them out to be of late. The Magic lost by seven against the Rockets when James Harden scored 60 and by two at Indianapolis before beating the Lakers.
The ball movement and shooting has been better and based on what Miami has done lately, this could be a win for the Magic.
Miami has been pretty darn bad over the last week. It started its four-game road trip with a win at Dallas and then proceeded to lose the next three, all close games.
All of Miami’s games are close, win or lose, good opponent or bad. So the Magic is an automatic play +8 in this game. The Heat will not pull away from any opponent and it usually always plays down to the competition.
Hassan Whiteside played sparingly two games ago against Philly and missed the last game against Detroit with an illness. I would like to think he’d be back by now, but he’s listed as questionable.
A week ago, Miami was about a two-thirds shot to win the Southeast Division, up a game and with the favorable schedule down the stretch. Then the Wiz lost John Wall and won four in a row, while Miami lost three straight.
It all coincides with me taking the Heat at +135 to win the division. This loss at home to the Magic would do it in.

Free Orlando Magic vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction: Orlando with the points.
This is undoubtedly the play. I hate on the Magic often but the Heat play every game within five points. Plus, Orlando has shown some nice offense lately and could get Gordon back. It might win it straight-up.
