The Chicago Bulls have been one of the NBA’s biggest early surprises. The Orlando Magic have been one of the league’s biggest early disappointments.
These two face off Monday night at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The Orlando Magic held an open practice to the public during the preseason when new head coach Frank Vogel publically announced that this team would be back in the playoffs this season.
It seemed ambitious then, and it seems ambitious now.
The good news for Magic fans is that this team has won its last three games after dropping the first four to start the year. The problem is that this is more and indictment on the Charmin-soft schedule and less a testament to how good (or promising) the team really is.
So far this season, Orlando is struggling to score the basketball. The team is averaging just 95 points per game, which is only good enough for 28th in the NBA.
Defensively, this team is making more progress. That makes sense considering this is a Vogel-led roster.
Orlando is giving up 100.3 points per contest at this juncture. That’s solid in a modern-day NBA that sees teams scoring at extremely high rates, and is good enough for No. 10 in the Association.
The Chicago Bulls have looked surprisingly good on offense this season considering their offseason moves made spreading the court a virtual improbability.
The problem is that after a hot start, they’re 0-3 in their last three contests.
In their first three wins, Chicago averaged 113.7 points per game. In their subsequent three — all losses — they averaged just 99.3 points.
Against Orlando, Chicago is a seven-point favorite. The key when you’re that big of a favorite is to take care of the basketball.
As we’ve learned about this Bulls squad, the offense will come and go. Hitting three-point shots and spreading the floor is important, but when you’re a heavy favorite, it’s all about not making mistakes.
Look for the Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade, Jimmy Butler trio to take over in this one.

Free Orlando Magic vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Prediction:
The Magic are hot while the Bulls are not. But Orlando is bad, while Chicago is actually good this season.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Chicago ATS
If Chicago’s offense struggles to put it all together, this one could be closer than expected. But don’t be shocked when the Bulls find a way to put it all together and resemble the team that started out hot this season.
