On Tuesday, May 11th the Oklahoma City Thunder will play the Sacramento Kings who seek the season sweep.
The Thunder holds the all-time record between the squads with 148 victories in 240 meetings. Last season the teams played three times with the Kings winning two of the three contests.
Oklahoma City Thunder
While the Thunder continue their tanking efforts they got a boost from other teams located at the bottom of the ladder, as the Wolves and Magic each collected a win last week.
Prior to games this final week of the regular season the Thunder was positioned alongside the Rockets and Pistons in the coveted bottom three.
With their loss on Monday, Houston is cemented in this group given their 16 wins and only three games remaining means they could win out and still have the worst record.
The Pistons have 20 wins but play the Wolves on Tuesday so a Detroit win would move them to 21 wins which each of the Thunder, Cavs, Magic, and Wolves also have.
It’s conceivable those five teams could finish the season with identical records. If that occurs a series of coin flips would determine the lottery position for those clubs.
Imagine spending the season tanking only to have your team’s fate determined by coin tosses. Notably, it could be a significant difference since the sixth-ranked team receives odds of nine percent — a six percent difference and only one percent better than the seventh-ranked team (likely to be the Raptors).
That includes Dort being questionable. SGA (foot), Jerome (calf), Mike Muscala (ankle), and Aleksej Pokusevski (knee contusion) are all expected to be out Sunday.
Dort, Luguentz Dort (right knee – patellar tendinitis), and Ty Jerome (left calf strain) are questionable.
Theo Maledon (left foot – plantar fasciitis), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, (plantar fasciitis), Mike Muscala (ankle) are all out.
Sacramento Kings
It might seem like a questionable strategy for the Kings to keep trying to win themselves into the play-in tournament but they’ve won five of the last six games primarily without the benefit of De’Aaron Fox, Harrison Barnes, and Tyrese Haliburton.
The one loss that stings the most was against the Spurs which is the team they would need to usurp to get into the play-in tournament. For the Kings to get there they’ll need to win out, hope the Spurs lose their four matches and that the Pelicans don’t get in their way.
Where things get interesting is they’ll follow up this match with two consecutive games against the Grizzlies and should they win both could end up helping the Spurs more than themselves.
In the last win versus OKC, Terence Davis and Mo Harkless were the top scorers. Eight Kings scored in double-figures.
Buddy Hield is playing on a minor ankle sprain and expected to play Tuesday.
Harrison Barnes (Adductor) has missed the last seven games and is questionable for Tuesday. Fox (health and safety protocols) and Robert Woodard (back) missed Sunday and are likely out Tuesday. Tyrese Haliburton (knee) is done for the season.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Kings are 6-4 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings

- Over/Under is 4-4-2 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
Free Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Sacramento Kings NBA Prediction:
With Maledon now out and the uncertainty that Dort and Jerome remain out, it means the Thunder could be extremely thin on their backcourt depth.
