Wednesday night NBA sees two teams from opposite conferences facing off in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder remain Russell Westbrook’s team. You could live under a rock and still know that the superstar point guard is making the 2016-17 NBA season his personal revenge tour with former teammate Kevin Durant now racking up wins with the Golden State Warriors.
What casual fans may not know is that Steven Adams is quickly becoming his most important teammate.

Yes, it’s important that the Thunder have Victor Oladipo back in the lineup. And it’s obviously crucial that the team’s outside shooters can complete their attempts at a decent rate to keep defenses honest.
But Adams, a player who many questioned the validity of massive contract, is impacting not just the defensive side of the floor, but it also taking pressure off Westbrook when it comes to scoring.
On the year, Adams is posting the fourt-highest points-per-game average while shooting a team-high 59.3 field-goal percentage.
He’s excellent in the pick-and-roll as the roll man, and he’s someone the Hornets can’t look past when it comes to not just their offensive game plan, but their defensive one as well.

Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets’ recent outing was against the Chicago Bulls. Charlotte knew entering the game that Dwyane Wade was out with a knee injury. It also knew that Rajon Rondo was set to ride the pine having fallen out of the rotation.
The Hornets knew that the only thing they really had to do was contain Jimmy Butler.
How did that work out?
They gave up 52 points to the Bulls’ consensus best player, allowed him to shoot 22 free throws (of which he made 21) and let him collect 12 rebounds, six assists, a block and three steals in the process.

On the one hand, Charlotte needs to put that one in the rearview and realize that it takes a very special talent to put up that type of stat line.
On the other hand, the Hornets have one of maybe 3-5 players in the entire league up next in Russell Westbrook.
If the Hornets can force the Thunder’s franchise fixture into bad shots, turnovers and a poor shooting percentage, they not only have a chance of winning, they have a shot at obliterating the three-point spread that’s currently in their favor.
The problem comes if Westbrook is allowed to do what he does on a regular basis.
Or more specifically, if he’s allowed to do what Butler did Monday night.

Free Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Charlotte Hornets NBA Prediction:
The Hornets are the better overall team. Looking at the roster, that much is certain.
The problem is: OKC has the best player on the court in this one.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: OKC +3
Butler and the Bulls drew up the blueprint on how to take down the Hornets with one player. Look for Westbrook and the Thunder to do utilize that plan Wednesday night.
