Friday, November 18th finds the OKC Thunder facing the Memphis Grizzlies in their first of four scheduled meetings this season. Memphis will host again on December 7th while OKC will play host on December 17th and April 9th.
OKC last played Wednesday defeating the Wizards 121-120 while the Grizzlies played Tuesday losing 102-113 to the Pelicans.
Last season, the teams played three times with the Grizzlies taking two of the three contests. The Thunder holds the all-time record having bested the Grizzlies in 65 of their 98 matches
OKC Thunder
Barely 10 days ago the Thunder were mired among the teams struggling to score or make shots with any sense of efficiency. But – – then they played the Bucks in a game that required double-overtime and something seemed to click.
Sure Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is having an incredible season but his linemates are also succeeding via their constant ball and player motion that unleashed the Thunder offense.
Although OKC lost the double-overtime game they’ve gone 3-1 since then and came close to beating the Celtics (122-126) and followed it up with the win versus the Wizards.
SGA led the Thunder in the victory versus Washington registering 42 points, six rebounds, and seven assists while hitting the step-back game-winning 3-pointer.
Entering that November 9th match versus Milwaukee, the Thunder ranked 23rd for scoring, 28th for field goal percentage, and 29th for 3-point efficiency.
Their status now is dramatically different having vaulted to sixth in scoring (116.6 points per game), 14th for field goal percent (46.9%) and even moved up to 20th for 3-point percentage (34.4%).
Defensively, OKC allows opponents to score 116.5 points per game (25th) while shooting 46.6% from the field (15th) and 36.6% from the perimeter (16th).
Darius Bazley (ankle) and Tre Mann (back) are questionable for Friday. Chet Holmgren (foot) is out for the season.
Memphis Grizzlies
Although Ja Morant put on a show and Jaren Jackson Jr. made his season debut the Grizzlies weren’t able to collect the victory versus the Zion-less Pelicans.
Morant pulled an MJ changing the ball from his right to left hand IN THE AIR as he offered 36 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
JA MORANT IS ABSURD.

The Grizz are clearly best when Morant and Desmond Bane are both playing but they’ll be missing the latter for at least a few weeks dealing with an injured toe.
Fortunately, triple J is back and while he looked a little rusty and gassed at times he had an immediate impact collecting five blocks in 27 minutes along with seven points and six rebounds.
Offensively, the Grizzlies score 113.9 points per game ranking 13th overall. Memphis shoots 46.3% from the field ranking 20th, and 36.3% from the perimeter ranking 13th.
Defensively, Memphis allow their opponents to score 113.4 points per game (17th) with their foes shooting 45.9% from the field (11th) and 36.4% from the perimeter (20th).
Bane (toe), Ziaire Williams (knee), and Danny Green (knee) are all out indefinitely.

Free OKC Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies NBA Prediction:
On Tuesday, the broadcast crew and TNT panel suggested the Pelicans and Grizzlies would be dominating in the West for years to come but given how well OKC is playing (while everyone expected them to be tanking) proves how close they are to taking that next step.
This game will be a great litmus test for the Thunder youngsters while SGA and Morant can also gauge how they measure up versus each other.
Last season, the Grizzlies topped the league for scoring in the paint but through the early stages of this campaign, it’s the Thunder who’ve claimed that top spot.
Memphis will have an extra edge to get back in the win column but the Thunder aren’t just conceding – plus they’ll give the Grizzlies all they can handle trying to stop them from entering the paint or getting out in transition off of forced turnovers.
Once again, I like OKC to keep it closer than the spread but think Memphis squeaks out the win.
