Two clubs expected to vie for the top of the Western Conference begin their NBA seasons on Thursday as the OKC Thunder face the Denver Nuggets.

Sam Presti has taken a systematic approach to revamping his club but shifted to a more aggressive approach this offseason addressing weaknesses.
First, Josh Giddey was jettisoned to the Bulls in exchange for 3 and D specialist Alex Caruso (in a steal of a deal), and then Presti signed Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency to shore up his frontcourt and rebounding issues.

The latter will need to be healthy for the Nuggets to have any shot of going deep in the postseason.
Having the best player in the league certainly helps but Malone will also need his youngsters to take a step in progression this season if they are to accomplish their goal.
