2016-2017 NBA Previews – Bucks Odds
Looking for 2016 Milwaukee Bucks Predictions? The Bucks fell last year, dropping eight wins from their surprising run to playoffs the year before. There was optimism about getting back there this season but losing their top scorer, Khris Middleton, though March puts a lot of pressure on players to step up. This team has an odd construction and it was kind of a coin flip whether they would see improvement even with Middleton. Now they are even more of a mystery.

Milwaukee Bucks Strengths:
The Bucks are trying to be all about skill diversity. Their bigs are able to play a little like guards and their guards have some length to affect shots at the rim.
Those might be stretches but this group is trying to prove they can succeed by getting away from conventional logic to an extent. So far they are still in the testing phase but at least they are committed to it.
The only way the strategy above works is if they can truly get more Giannis Antetokounmpo. At 6’11” he does have a unique skill set but his offensive game is still developing.
He is going to be the engine that drives this team and on days when he is not at his best they will definitely struggle. When he is on he is going to be a scary matchup for opponents.
The length of the Bucks makes them a menace on defense. In addition to Antetokounmpo they have Michael Carter-Williams and John Henson, two extremely long armed defenders to make things difficult for opponents on the perimeter and in the post.
With those three in the regular rotation plus Greg Monroe they should be among the leaders in blocked shots.
Milwaukee Bucks Weaknesses:
With the roster they have assembled the Bucks are very much a mid-range team. Middleton was adept at that game so are the players I have already mentioned and you can throw in Jabari Parker as well, who still has not really found a position in the NBA.
This team is desperate for outside shooting. Bringing in Matthew Dellavedova and Mirza Teletovic will help but I am not sure either are going to scare opponents to truly open things up.
Adding to the lack of shooting, scoring might be a problem in general. Middleton led last year with just 18ppg and this year they want Giannis to have the ball in his hands more to distribute to teammates meaning his scoring might actually take a hit.
The rest of the team does not have a lot of upside other than Monroe and Parker.
You can’t really play them together because they are not threats to make outside shots. If the defense packs it in they will have problems.
When they hired Jason Kidd I was not a fan of the hire. In his first season he definitely had the team pointed in the right direction but things kind of fell apart last year, even though they had better personnel than the year before.
This year they lose Middleton early but overall the talent probably is better.
The former Hall of Fame PG seems to struggle to get more out of big men. I am not sure he gives the team any advantage.
Milwaukee Bucks Betting Prediction: 33-49
There are few teams that could survive the loss of their leading scorer just before the season started and this team might be the least equipped to do so.
They were already pretty thin in the backcourt and now they will be looking to the likes of Tony Snell to replace that production. That is a tall order. He may give that backcourt some good size but on most nights they are going to get outscored by a lot.
You have to think that Milwaukee will play to a lot of unders, especially early. I think there is a good chance they could be in the bottom 5 in scoring and in the top 5 in defense.
If it takes a month for that to settle you may be able to maneuvre around the oddsmakers early. If you like to bet on thoses kinds of things, Jason Kidd might be a good candidate for the first coach to be fired if this group is epically bad.
