Game one was not pretty but the Heat took the early advantage with the win. They can really put the pressure on with a win in game two.
Toronto looked tired and never really took it to Miami. They were sleepwalking and that is putting it kindly.
This is an absolute must win for the Raptors. They are going to need to have a short memory.
The Heat won game one because they were the better team but they were also a bit lucky because they never should have let that game go to overtime. They will need to be sharper if they want to go up 2-0.
Early on it was Goran Dragic that was leading the way but down the stretch Dwyane Wade showed why he is one of the great modern playoff performers.
I thought they might involve Hassan Whiteside more but he had some injury concerns early and was not a big factor. If they can get him going a little more than they have a great chance of mixing it up for another win.
I don’t want to take anything away from Miami but I did not see their defense as being superb. The Raptors were bad on offense the entire second half.
Even though this is a veteran group there is natural tendency to coast if you win the first game of a series on the road. The Heat looked gassed a bit too so it wouldn’t surprise if they came out a little flat.
I am not sure who is going to provide the spark for this group. They will look to slow things down and win it late again.
Toronto finds themselves in trouble again after losing game one. They were lifeless for most of the game and it never should have gone to OT. It made them look better.
Most of the team was off but the big thing was Kyle Lowry and his continuing struggles. That hail mary to force overtime was great but he has not been himself for a couple of months now and in the playoffs you need your PG at whatever his max is to win.
DeMar DeRozan was just OK, finishing with 22 points. They might have been able to pull the game out in regulation if he was sharper at the free thrown line.
Jonas Valanciunas was the Raptors best player with a 24/14 game. It was all the more impressive because Whiteside is one of the better defensive centers in the league. Still they got away from him for stretches that didn’t make sense.
I did not like the insertion of Norman Powell into the starting lineup for G1. I love the kid but I am not sure it is great for the team to start. You are at home in the first game so you should try and dictate.
Terrence Ross was a godsend off the bench with 19 points. I would have rather seen him get the starting nod if you want to go small. Powell is still just a rookie with limited NBA experience.
Toronto has once again created a hole for themselves. It will be a test of their mettle and talent. I look forward to seeing how they respond.

Free Miami Heat vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
I know criss cross is kind of dead but I don’t see how you can not get behind Toronto in this situation, unless you were always predicting a fast exit for them in round 2.
