Miami got Goran Dragic back over the weekend but he was brutal in a loss to the Wizards, going 0-for-7 from the field. In Monday’s loss to the Sixers he scored twenty-two on fifteen shots and scored twenty-one on another fifteen shots on Wednesday’s win over the Nets.
Tyler Johnson led the Head with twenty-four off the bench and Hassan Whiteside has yet another double-double as of a part of his early season resurgence and the Heat got a road win, 120–107.
Dwyane Wade remained out for a fifth consecutive game on his extended paternity leave, which is something new in the NBA. He’s been admired, generally, in the media for taking so much time off to be there for the first days of his only child with his current wife, Gabrielle Union.
Wade’s return will spark some enthusiasm but I don’t think he’s going to be back for this game, at least there hasn’t been any indication that he will be.
In the meantime, Miami has more than enough depth to deal with his absence. Tyler Johnson and Wade Ellington are a fantastic guard duo to have off the bench and Bam Adebayo and Kelly Olynyk are forming chemistry as the second unit big combo.
That second unit will be complete when either Wade returns or James Johnson finally makes his season debut, which still sounds like it’s at least a couple weeks off.
The Pacers won in Miami last Friday night on the first Vice Night of the season at AmericanAirlines Arena. Victor Oladipo led all scorers with twenty-two in that one.
The Heat has played three games since then; the Pacers have played just one so Indy is going to be well-rested and ready to go at home.
The Pacers don’t have the finest record to start the season but they’ve played a hell of a schedule. They only lose to good teams. The only questionable loss they have is an early defeat to the Timberwolves, who had Jimmy Butler, of course.
Otherwise, Indiana has lost to Milwaukee, Portland, Philadelphia and Houston twice. This team isn’t quite in the ranks of the NBA elites but it’s just outside. It plays like it consistently so it’s going to rack up a lot of wins once the schedule gets lighter in the Eastern Conference.
They host the Heat, Hawks and Jazz over the next three games and they’ve got to be thinking about a sweep. I’d be surprised if they didn’t start well with a win in this game.

Free Miami Heat vs. Indiana Pacers NBA Prediction: Indiana.
Miami plays everybody tough, too. I don’t think Indy runs away with anything but it will get a win in the fourth quarter at home.
