Friday night NBA sees two streams struggling this season. The big difference is that one is simply struggling on the court while the other is struggling to keep it together in the locker room and in front of the media.
*All statistics, rankings, standings and records are accurate as of this writing at 6:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, Jan. 26.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat enter this game scoring 99.2 points per game. That number is only good enough to place them at 29th in the NBA — the second-worst placing in the league.

Defensively, Miami is giving up 102.5 points per contest. For those keeping track, that number is good enough for seventh across the Association, but it still puts the team at a net negative.
The good news is that this team has a newfound go-to option on offense, both throughout the game and in crunch time. As unlikely as it may sound, that player is Dion Waiters.

Waiters, who is on his third team in as many seasons, has recorded double-digit points in six straight. But it’s his last three that have earned him the most attention.
In his last three outings, Waiters has scored 24, 33 and 33 points, respectively. His most notorious moment came when he nailed a game-winning triple against the Golden State Warriors.
Most importantly of all, the Heat are finally winning. The team is 5-0 in its last five outings, and while the playoffs are still way out of the question, it’s good for a young team to be on the right side of the win column.
Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls are an unmitigated disaster.
No, we’re not talking about the fact that they’re 23rd in scoring this season, posting just 101.5 points per contest. And no, we don’t care that their assists-per-game numbers are only good enough for 24th.
We don’t even really care that they’re half a game under .500 at this point in the year.
What we’re talking about is something that’s nearly unsolvable.
We’re talking about inside the locker room.
It started when Dwyane Wade, a first-year Bull and former NBA champion, called out his team through the media. Then it escalated when Jimmy Butler went the same route.
They questioned the heart and soul of the team’s role players, and in their defense, there was always a chance that public outcry could motivate a team that should realistically be a playoff lock out East.
But things took a turn for the worse when Rajon Rondo offered his rebuttal on social media.

In his Instagram post featuring himself, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce all in Celtics jerseys, Rondo stated, among other things, “My vets would never go to the media. They would come to the team. My vets didn’t pick and choose when they wanted to bring it…
The young guys work. They show up. They don’t deserve blame. If anything is questionable, it’s the leadership.”
Tell us how you really feel, Rondo.
