Things have been better in Memphis. The Grizzlies went on a huge losing streak after Mike Conley got hurt that resulted in their coach getting fired. They beat the Timberwolves on Monday night tough, their first win in 12 games. Minnesota has a long way to go itself and I’m not so sure it’s going to get “there.”
As far as Memphis goes, it is missing its point guard. Tyreke Evans has put his Sixth Man of the Year campaign on the back burner to enter the starting lineup but he is far from a true point guard. Mario Chalmers comes off the bench and doesn’t make things any better.
What you have is a bunch of slashing wings who are now trying to take turns making plays and Marc Gasol who is just trying to get the ball any way he can and then rarely has any time or structure around him to make the sweet plays we’ve been used to. The Grizzlies are a mess without Conley and an interim coach, to boot.
New York Knicks
Reports were that Kristaps Porzingis was going to return on Monday but a late sickness changed that plan. KP sat out his second game in a row and third in his last five. That stretch also included one game where he played three minutes so he’s basically played in one of the last five.
But if the ankle was good enough to go on Monday, it’s definitely a go for Wednesday. He should be feeling better by then too so we have to assume he will lace them up.
That’s big news because the Knicks have lost five out of six and shown just how bad they can be without their MVP. The loss over the weekend, at home against the Magic, was particularly bad.
But not just Porzingis, but Tim Hardaway Jr., has also been out. Hardaway has a problem in his shin and the Knicks are still trying to determine if its a fracture or a stress reaction. If it’s the latter, he may be out for just another week or so. If it’s a fracture, even a small one, he will miss months. It’s fair to say he will miss his third game in a row on Wednesday night, however.

Free Memphis Grizzlies vs. New York Knicks NBA Prediction: it goes low.
This is going to be an ugly one. The Knicks get KP back but Hardaway is a big part of that offense too. The Grizzlies are just a mess in the half court. I don’t see either team breaking 100 in this one.
