This game features a strong Grizzlies team against the Timberwolves.
The Grizzlies have turned things around and won 4 of 4. While the Timberwolves are 5-2 in their last 7 games.
Memphis will look to take the final game of the season series, and win their third of the year against Minnesota.
Memphis has three straight decisive victories against Western conferences, and should continue their strong play tonight.
Mike Conley Jr. continues to play like one of the most underrated point guards in the NBA. His defensive skills have been surprisingly overshadowed by his scoring ability during this run.
Conley has shot 50% or better in each of the 3 wins and it was his performance against Phoenix on Monday night that was the punctuation of this run. He had 38 points against a poor Suns team and shot 12-18 from the floor, including an amazing 7-10 from behind the arc.
Conley followed that up with 18 points and 5 assists against the Nuggets, who lack strong perimeter defenders. He should be able to take over this game, as he had 13 points and 3 assists in the last meeting. Look for Conley to get 17 points and dish out 7 assists in this one.
Marc Gasol was the go to man for the Grizzlies in the win against the Nuggets, as he had 24 points and 5 rebounds on the night. Gasol has been a scoring machine for Memphis and is averaging 26 points per game in the last 10.
Expect Gasol to get the ball continuously in the paint tonight, as he should put up huge numbers against the talented, but inexperienced Karl Anthony Townes.
Zach Randolph has been an excellent sixth man this season, and should be a candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year when the season is all said and done. Randolph has scored 10 or more points in 7 straight and will make it 8 in a row against a T-wolves team lacing front court depth.
This looks like a lost season for the Timberwolves, who sit last in their division and are primed for another lottery spot in June’s draft.
Does the future look bright in Minnesota? Karl Anthony Townes is one of the best young players in the league and can dominate on both sides of the floor on any given night.
In a blowout loss to the Cavaliers Wednesday night he recorded his 8th straight double double. He finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Grizzlies front line is arguably the toughest in the league when defending the low post, but Townes should still put up respectable numbers. Expect 21 and 11 from the future All Star.
Andrew Wiggins has score 20+ in 7 straight games, but it’s the only area of his game where he can take over at any moment. The biggest issue with Wiggins has been consistency, so it has been nice to see hi, pick up the pace on the offensive end of the floor.
He struggled mightily against the Grizzlies in the last meeting, and I don’t expect much to change in this one. Look for the Memphis defenders to snap Wiggins scoring run and keep him under 15 points.
Zach Lavine had a horrible game against the Cavs. Scoring just 8 points on 4-18 shooting from the floor. He is a talented guard and has improved his shooting this season, but if he can’t consistently get to the hoop it slows down the T-wolves offense.
He should have a bounce back game in this one.
