The Trail Blazers started the season off on fire, providing some hope for a fan base that had just lost four of their five starters during the offseason, including multi-time All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge.

The Los Angeles Clippers, however, have high hopes and a lacking record thus far. Considered one of the strongest forces in the West, you have to believe it’s only a matter of time until this team goes off on a huge winning streak.
After falling victim to the undefeated Golden State Warriors last night, there are clear signs of hope for Lob City.
Portland Trail Blazers:
What a roller coaster Rip City has gone through in the last 6 months. The Trail Blazers have gone from fighting for the Larry O’Brien trophy in the NBA Playoffs to being projected as one of the worst teams in the league.
The Trail Blazers went in to rebuild mode, trading away starting small forward Nicolas Batum while the rest of the remaining free agents, including Wesley Matthews, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Robin Lopez all found new homes in the NBA.
Point guard Damian Lillard remains as the team’s only returning starter, signing a contract extension that will keep him in Portland until at least through the 2020-2021 season. He joins C.J. McCollum, Allen Crabbe, Tim Frazier, Meyers Leonard, and Chris Kaman as the team’s only returning members.
[dfads params=’groups=226&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
The youth and inexperience of this team has shown through inconsistent play and various scenes of “rookie mistakes.” On the upside, combo guard C.J. McCollum has broken out, averaging 20.3 points while dishing out 3.2 assists and crashing the glass for 3.7 rebounds per game.
It has to be believed that the goal for the Trail Blazers this year is to develop the young roster that they have, which includes only two players over the age of 26.
Their fast-paced offense inconsistent at best. Force them off their game, which means stop their back court duo of Damian Lillard & C.J. McCollum, and you’ll have a W served up on a golden platter.
Los Angeles Clippers:
The Clippers let a 23-point lead slip away last night as the defending champion Golden State Warriors clawed back in the final minutes of the game.
Down starting shooting guard J.J. Redick, the performance by the Clippers was impressive to say the least, especially considering Chris Paul was a game-time decision with a nagging groin injury.
With a big three of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan, you’d think that the Clippers would be better than their current 7th place standing in the Western Conference. This becomes especially true when many NBA analysts considered the Clippers’ bench as the best, and deepest, in the association.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen this kind of thing in the NBA, it’s quite common actually; that a team is assembled with all the right pieces, multiple new ones coming in the offseason, with only some disappointing performances early on to show for their offseason improvements.
Give those teams some time to mold together, however, and you’ll see their full potential come out soon enough. For the Clippers, now might be that time.
The Clippers haven’t impressed this season, however the talent is clearly there. No question in my mind that the Doc Rivers will get his team in gear soon enough. The best time to get them going? After an unforgivable loss to the Golden State Warriors in a game that was all but won.

Chris Paul, who is considered probable at this time after playing against Golden State, will be leading this team into Portland with a fire under their rear ends. It can be expected that their somewhat disappointing season will be turned around against a Trail Blazers team that is built for the future, not for the present.

The Los Angeles Clippers were minutes from beating the best team in the NBA, a team that is being considered as possibly one of the best in NBA history. Now they will face the Portland Trail Blazers, who have lost seven straight. Don’t expect this young Trail Blazer team to have an answer for the star-studded Clippers.

Chris Paul impressed for the Clippers in his return against Stephen Curry and the Warriors. 35 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals for the 30-year-old PG. The back court combo of Chris Paul & Jamal Crawford are going to go bonkers against a pair of Trail Blazer guards who are known for having lackluster defense.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan make up for one of the most explosive, high-flying front courts in the NBA. Portland won’t be able to catch a break in this one, and it’s going to show on the scoreboard.
