Tuesday, December 6th the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers meet for the second and final time this season. In the initial match on November 6th, the Cavaliers won 114-100.
Both clubs arrive having last played Sunday with the Lakers beating the Wizards 130-119 while the Cavaliers recorded their fewest points of the season in the 81-92 loss to the Knicks.
Last season the clubs played twice with the Lakers taking both matches. The Lakers hold the all-time record with 68 wins in 120 matches versus the Cavaliers.

This game always carries extra importance for LeBron James who grew up in Akron, was drafted by the Cavs, infamously left them for Miami, then returned to win an NBA title and left them again.

Wenyen Gabriel (shoulder) is questionable.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The longer Jarrett Allen is out the clearer it becomes how integral the big man is to the Cavs success. And now Dean Wade is also out and will be for the next three to four weeks.
Cleveland has won seven of their last 10 but notably, the three losses occurred versus teams who bring defensive intensity (Bucks, Raptors, Knicks) again highlighting how important Allen is to the equation.
Offensively, Cleveland scores 111.3 points per game ranking 17th while shooting 47.5% from the field and 37.8%, and the perimeter ranking 10th and sixth respectively.
Cleveland tops the league for opponent scoring limiting foes to an average of 105.0 points per game. Cavs opponents shoot 45.5% from the field and 35.4% from deep which ranks fifth and 14th respectively.
Jarrett Allen (back) is questionable for Tuesday. Dean Wade (shoulder), Dylan Windler (ankle), and Ricky Rubio (knee) are out indefinitely.

I’m eager to see how Evan Mobley stacks up versus AD because I keep hearing how Mobley is already a defensive beast but from what I’ve seen he isn’t nearly as effective without Allen.
Herb Jones has taken more strides while OG Anunoby and Brook Lopez should be leading your ballots for DPoY… sorry I digress…
If Allen can’t go the way AD is rolling it might be a tougher matchup for the Cavs than first anticipated. Couple that with the fact the Cavs don’t’ have great wing defenders (greatest weakness) and Dean Wade is out making them even thinner.
Which brings me to the next question – who guards LeBron then?
Working in the Cavs’ favor is the Lakers aren’t particularly adept at stopping speedy guards so Donovan Mitchell should have a heyday.
I can’t wrap my head around the Lakers being an elite team or more than one of many vying for a play-in spot. Yeah, yeah I know AD is on fire but if you had money to put on the Lakers or Kings securing a playoff seed which one feels more likely?
Hint (I’d pick the latter).
