It’s crazy to think these two teams met in the NBA Finals last year, and a little more than six months later one is on pace to return to the show while the other resides in the basement of the league.
Certainly, losing Tyrese Haliburton has been difficult, but the Pacers have dealt with numerous injuries this season and need a bona fide center after letting Myles Turner leave in free agency this past summer.

Here is my Pacers Thunder free pick. OKC has picked up a few losses since they seemingly hit a bad matchup in the Spurs mid December. They are back to leading several key categories like net rating but their defense is spectacular regardless of who suits up for the champs.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will headline the International team in the All-Star Game and the likelihood is OKC will get another player voted in by the coaches given their dominance.
Although the Pacers have shown some signs of being more competitive, they’ve dealt with copious injuries and seem to be intent on tanking. They could end up emulating the Spurs in the season David Robinson was out, and they landed Tim Duncan, which made them formidable for years.
That said, the players have pride and because this is the team they pushed to seven games last summer, my gut says they’ll bring a more competitive effort to the court on Friday. I don’t think they’ll win but 16.5 points is just too much given the circumstances.
So, take Indy and the points, but the Thunder to win.
