The good news is that since an unimposing 15-18 start to the year through late January, things have started to go Indy’s way. It has won seven of its last eight games, with the only loss being a bizarre 140-112 blowout at the hands of the Denver Nuggets across the pond in London.

On the year, the Pacers are averaging 105.8 points per contest, which is good enough for 13th in the league. As of late, however, this group has upped its game.
Since the turn of the calendar, Indiana is posting an impressive 114 points per contest. That number puts them at fourth in the NBA during that stretch, and it has a lot to do with the fact that it’s shooting the third-best three-point percentage since Jan. 1.
Los Angeles Lakers
Unlike the Pacers, the Los Angeles Lakers came out of the gate firing.

Since then, the tides have turned against them. Injuries have been a problem and their youth has been exposed on a number of occasions.
Among the worst stretches includes the team’s current run leading up to this contest.
Entering Friday night, L.A. has lost five straight, and that trend is even worse when you consider the team has totaled just five wins (and 20 losses) since the start of December.
On the year, the Lakers are posting 104.7 points per game, which puts them at 18th in the league.
