The Philadelphia 76ers have now won five of their last six games after they beat the Milwaukee Bucks in their last outing 114-109, while out in the Western Conference the Houston Rockets haven’t been as lucky coming away on the losing end of a tough 120-109 point loss to the Boston Celtics.
Houston Rockets
After getting the season started off with a bang, the Houston Rockets have come back down to earth, and the teams been in a slump ever since.
The Rockets have now lost six of their last nine games. That’s a far decrease from the 31-9 start they had to tipoff the 2016/17 campaign.

And a lot of that has been due to the teams almost non-existent defense. They gave up 120 points to Boston, 127 to Milwaukee and 109 to the Miami Heat.
That’s just an unacceptable amount of points allowed, especially to the teams that they gave it up too.
Milwaukee has continued to have trouble scoring all season, and same with the Miami Heat. So for both those teams to get into triple digit scoring totals is just way to many points to be giving up.
I mean you can’t expect to win many games that way.

So if Houston can get back to playing at least some semblance of defense they’ll beat Philadelphia, but if they plan to just outscore them that’s not going to happen.
Philly is showing themselves to be a better team then they get credit for, so if Houston plans to beat them they’re going to need to shut down the 76ers.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers have been on a tear lately, and that didn’t change in their last matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. Philadelphia came out in this outing looking to make a statement.
The team did an excellent job forcing Milwaukee into tough, contested three-pointers, and because of that the Bucks shot a putrid 7/28 from behind the arc.
It also helped some that the team got contributions from almost everyone on the roster. Nerlens Noel pitched in 16 points, while Ersan Ilyasova dropped 17 himself.
But it didn’t stop there, as the reserves also got into the action, Gerald Henderson scored a team-high 20 points, and Dario Saric got 17.
The play of those four really helped keep the 76ers offense going, and they came away victors because of it. So they’re going to need that same effort from everyone offensively if the team hopes to beat a high scoring Houston Rockets team.
Houston plays at a fast pace hoping to score on teams inside or find the open shooter out on the perimeter.
That means Philly has got to contain the Rockets dribble penetration, and prevent them from getting off open looks at the basket.

If they can do that they’ll have a chance at defeating the Rockets, but they’re going to need to find some scoring production.
So if the bench unit can step up again that should really help keep the offense afloat, or else things can turn bad quickly for the team.

Free Houston Rockets vs. Philadelphia 76ers NBA Prediction:
The Rockets are in some sort of a slump, but despite that they look to be the better team at coming out on top in this matchup.
They just have such a high octane offense that I believe will be too much to overcome for the Philadelphia 76ers.
