Golden State Warriors
The Warriors played the Clippers without the Splash Brothers on Thursday night and got blown out in the second half by Lou Williams.
Sweet Lou scored 50, including 27 in the third quarter and a big fourth quarter to propel the Clippers the second half. Los Angeles was without Blake Griffin and Milos Teodosic again. It was basically Williams and DeAndre Jordan with some help from names most casual NBA fans wouldn’t recognize.
It was Golden State’s ninth loss of the season and now the Warriors are on the brink of becoming the 30th and final team in the Association to compile double-digit losses.
There’s a chance it could come before they even get to Toronto. Golden State plays in Milwaukee on Friday night and Stephen Curry won’t be active. He aggravated his ankle injury in practice earlier this week.
The ankle flaring up on a couple different instances this season is concerning. Klay Thompson will be back, as he just sat out Thursday for some rest.
Meanwhile, Toronto impressed with a blowout of Cleveland on National Television Thursday night. The Raptors did it without Kyle Lowry, who continues to sit with a sore tailbone after a nasty spill earlier this week.
He is questionable going forward, but must be ready to suit back up again soon.
Former Missouri Valley great Fred VanVleet led Toronto in scoring with 22 points in 24 minutes off the bench. He threw four assists, grabbed four rebounds and didn’t turn it over.
Six more Raptors scored in double-figures: Jonas Valanciunas, CJ Miles, DeMar DeRozan, Normal Powell, Pascal Siakam and Jakob Poeltl. Valanciunas ripped down 18 rebounds and Poeltl grabbed 12 himself for the double-double.
Let’s not forget about Serge Ibaka, who was suspended for this game after throwing a punch in an altercation with James Johnson of the Bulls earlier this week.
The Raptors are deep, almost too deep for their own good. When guys who get a chance play this well, what is a coach to do?

Free Golden State Warriors vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction: the Warriors win.
This will not be the trendy pick. Golden State is beat up, on the road and on the second night of a back-to-back. Toronto may even be favored, which is almost unheard of.
That’s a rare opportunity to get the Warriors without having to cover some crazy number.
