It’s a Western Conference showdown this Tuesday as the Golden State Warriors head to the Lone Star State to take on the Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors took the last meeting between these teams 108-99 on December 30, 2016.
The Warriors seem to have gotten back on track lately.
This will be the second game of a back-to-back for them, as they take on the Thunder in Oklahoma City on Monday.
The Mavericks have been up and down lately, but they are coming off of a 111-104 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday. Dallas is currently in 10th place in the West, but they are not out of playoff contention yet.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors faced their lowest point of the season earlier this month with a three-game losing streak. They have now bounced back and won three straight going into Monday’s matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Golden State has the number one scoring offense in the NBA, averaging 116.2 points per game. They rank 7th in rebounding with 44.6 and 1st in assists with 30.3 per contest.
The Warriors are slightly above average on defense this year– allowing 104.9 points per game which ranks 13th in the league.
The Warriors seem to have adjusted to playing without Kevin Durant. Stephen Curry leads the way with 25 points and 6.3 assists per game. Klay Thompson contributes 22.1 points per contest.
Draymond Green adds 10.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 2.12 steals a night.
This will be the first home game for the Mavericks following a four-game road trip in which they went 2-2. They are coming off of a 114-104 win over the league’s worst team in the Brooklyn Nets but have lost three of their last five.
The reason for the Mavericks’ struggles is their inability to put points on the board. They rank dead last in scoring offense, averaging only 98.1 points per game.
Dallas also ranks last in rebounding with only 38.5 and 27th in assists with 20.4 per contest.
The bright side is their defense which allows only 100.2 points per game, ranking 3rd in the league.
Harrison Barnes leads the Mavericks in scoring with 19.8 points as well as 5.2 rebounds per game. Dirk Nowitzki is still contributing with 14.4 points and 6.6 rebounds a night, and Wesley Matthews adds 14.3 points per contest.
