(15-9) Golden State Warriors vs. Atlanta Hawks (5-18)
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors got Stephen Curry back for the first time in over a month on Saturday in Detroit but they still lost, 111–102 to the 13–7 Pistons.
Curry scored twenty-seven points in thirty-six minutes and didn’t really get cooking until the second half, when he knocked down a few three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Draymond Green, meanwhile, failed to return to a game he would have liked to have played in, considering Michigan is his home state and Michigan State his former school.
Green has missed eleven of his team’s last thirteen games and hasn’t played since the middle of November. He insists that he’s going to make his return at the tail end of Golden State’s current road trip.
The Warriors go to Cleveland on Wednesday and end things with a game in Milwaukee on Friday. The Cavs game could be a good one to re-integrate Green. If Steve Kerr doesn’t feel like he needs Green in that game, however, he could wait to unleash him against Giannis Antetokounmpo.
DeMarcus Cousins says he is healthy and wants to return in the next two weeks. The Warriors have already come and and said he won’t make his return until after Christmas.
The Hawks were outclassed in Oklahoma City on Friday night, which wasn’t anything unexpected. The Hawks did play with the Thunder for three quarters but lost the second quarter by eighteen and the game by fifteen, 124–109.
Dewayne Dedmon started at center for Atlanta but he didn’t play well against Steven Adams, scoring two points and grabbing four rebounds in seventeen minutes. Alex Len played better with nineteen points and five rebounds in twenty-three minutes off the bench. He held Adams’ offensive rebounding in check, most importantly.
Len and John Collins led the scoring with nineteen apiece. Trae Young was thoroughly bottled up by Russell Westbrook, who came a rebound shy of yet another triple-double since his return from injury and becoming a father again.
Young scored nine points in twenty-eight minutes. He should find more space without Stephen Curry hassling him on the ball like Westbrook does on a nightly basis. It could turn into a fun shooting display with Curry and Young going head-to-head after Curry missed the first matchup back on November 13.

Free Golden State Warriors vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction: the Warriors get this win.
Detroit is a pretty good team and losing to the Pistons in Curry’s first game back wasn’t a terrible loss for the Dubs. This, however, would be and I don’t suspect it will materialize.
