The Golden State Warriors enter Wednesday’s nationally televised contest (ESPN) coming off a convincing 116-95 win over Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis and the New York Knicks.
They’ve won seven straight, avoiding adding to the loss column since dropping one back on Jan. 13 to the Denver Nuggets.
The Washington Wizards are having far less success these days. They are coming off a disappointing showing against Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma Cit Thunder, and they’ve lost four of their last five, as well as six of their last eight.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State’s ultimate goal is a championship — it’s second straight. But there’s no denying this group has its eye on history.
Stephen Curry, in a recent interview with Brett Pollakoff of Fox Sports put the goal in perspective, stating, “We’re obviously worried about what happens in the playoffs, and being healthy and full-strength playing our best come April 16 or whenever our last game is.
But if we have an opportunity to go for it, we’ll go for it.”
If the Warriors are serious about not only contending for a title but also making history, there are certain types of games they simply can’t lose.
Spoiler alert: This is one of them.
Although even the best can be guilty of playing down to their competition, Curry and Co. must show up if they want to keep their seven-game streak alive.
At this point in the process, against a struggling Wizards squad, there’s little reason to believe they’ll slow down.
The Wizards have one of the best point guards in the game in John Wall, and his contributions on both ends of the floor will be crucial if this squad is going to stand a chance at even keeping things close.
Although the Warriors are a well-oiled machine that knows how to get everyone involved, the truth is this: As Curry goes, Golden State goes. What does this mean for the Wizards? Wall had better be ready to put pressure on the opposing point guard/MVP.
On Monday, Wall had no answer for another one of the NBA’s elites at his position, giving up a triple double to OKC’s Russell Westbrook.
Don’t expect Curry to go full Westbrook tallying a trip-dub (although there’s no reason to believe Draymond Green won’t), but don’t be shocked if the Davidson product finds a way to go for 35-plus when it’s all said and done.

4* Free NBA Betting Pick:
As discouraging as this is going to sound for fans of Washington, the outcome of this contest has very little to do with how the Wizards play.
This one is going to come down to whether or not the Warriors show up and whether or not they play down to their competition.
Golden State is simply on another level right now, and we’re not just talking about that in comparison to the Wizards — it’s on another level in comparison to the entire Association.
