With the All-Star Weekend looming, the NBA slate for Wednesday is jam-packed with all but two teams playing. Included in the mix is the Detroit Pistons visiting the Toronto Raptors.
Detroit arrives following their 110-104 victory versus the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday. The game dissolved into a fracas when Jalen Duren and Moussa Diabate got into a scrap. That carried over to Miles Bridges and Isaiah Stewart getting involved. All four players were ejected; however, no doubt suspensions are looming (we’ll keep you updated). UPDATE: Stewart was suspended for seven games, and Duren was suspended for two games to be served immediately.
Meanwhile, the Raptors last played on Sunday, defeating the Pacers 122-104. Six Raptors scored in double figures, with Scottie Barnes leading the way, offering a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds plus six assists, two steals, and four blocks!

The key for this matchup may come down to interior size, which will impact the glass and rim protection. Detroit could be hampered if Duren and Stew pick up suspensions, but they still have depth at the position.
Moreover, the Raptors struggle against interior size and are injury-plagued at the center position. Jakob Poeltl has missed 33 games (including the last 24) while Collin Murray-Boyles is dealing with a sprained thumb (update: CMB is out). Both are listed as game time decisions.
If both bigs are out, the Raptors will need to lean on new addition Trayce Jackson-Davis, who was solid in his first minutes with the club, collecting a double-double and grabbing eight offensive boards.

I’m torn on this match because Detroit has had Toronto’s number for quite a while, but if the bigs aren’t playing, could the Raptors pull out the win?
The Raptors haven’t fared well against the elite teams, although they’ve had some quality wins against the likes of the Cavaliers and Thunder.
Earlier this season, I went against the Wolves, who hadn’t won in Toronto forever, but they broke through, so all streaks are made to be broken.
Again, I’m torn, but I’ll roll with the Raptors with the caveat that if there aren’t suspensions announced tonight/tomorrow, then I’ll switch back to Detroit.
