On Thursday, November 17th, the Detroit Pistons and LA Clippers will play in the first of two scheduled contests this season. Detroit will host on December 26th.
The Pistons have been off since Monday following a 111-115 loss to the Raptors extending their losing streak to four games in a row. Meanwhile, the Clippers were in Texas for a back-to-back set which resulted in a split with a 122-106 win versus the Rockets and a 103-105 loss to the Mavericks
Last season, the teams played twice with the Clippers winning both contests. The Pistons hold the all-time record having bested the Clippers in 72 of their 122 matches.
Detroit Pistons
Although Dwane Casey has owned his former team –winning six of their nine meetings since he was fired it felt almost fitting the game the Raptors would win occurred with them severely shorthanded.
And yet, the Pistons made it interesting battling back late but there was no curse magic to help push them over the top.

Offensively, the Pistons score 108.5 points per game which rank 28th overall. Detroit also struggles for efficiency shooting 42.9% from the field (30th), and 32.7% from the perimeter (26th).
Defensively, the Pistons allow opponents to score 118.2 points per game (28th) while holding foes to 47.9 percent from the field (three-way tie 24th) and 34.1 percent from the perimeter (tied 6th).
Cory Joseph (hip) is questionable for Thursday. Isaiah Stewart (toe) got hurt in the last game trying to make a hustle play, he joins Cade Cunningham (shin) as out for this match.
LA Clippers
The game in Dallas offered a bit of everything as the Clippers struggled to score in the first half but then they roared back in the third quarter scoring more in the frame (33 points) than they had the entire first half (32 points).
The Mavericks had taken their foot off the gas but LA tied things up at the 10:02 minute mark of the fourth and the teams exchanged the lead seven times in that final frame but Luka Doncic hit a clutch time 3-pointer to put the Mavs ahead.
Nicolas Batum who was perfect from the perimeter (7 of 7) delivered the perfect example of how to purposely miss a free throw and bounce the ball off the rim for an opportunity to win the match.
Unfortunately, even with Robert Covington reaching the ball he fumbled it and the buzzer sounded.
Offensively, the Clippers continue to struggle ranking dead last for scoring with 104.9 points per game, and are searching for their 3-point efficiency shooting 34.5% from deep (19th). Their field goal efficiency is much stronger as they shoot 47.6% from the field to rank seventh) overall.
Defensively, the Clippers allow opponents to score 106.9 points per game (4th) while holding foes to 44.8 percent from the field (2nd) and 35.1 percent from the perimeter (tied 11th).
Paul George (hand) is questionable for Thursday, while Kawhi Leonard (knee) and Luke Kennard (calf) were both downgraded to out.

This isn’t a gimme for the Clippers who got swept in their baseball set versus the Thunder and had to hang on to beat the Rockets in one match.
They aren’t scoring enough to chance playing down to the competition — fortunately for LA, the Pistons are really bad so they should be fine collecting the ‘W’ — but I’m not convinced they score enough to cover especially if PG13 sits.
