The Nuggets started their road trip with a bad loss in Los Angeles last night, 127–109 to the Lakers. Nikola Jokic was ejected in the first half, Mike Malone quickly followed and then Paul Millsap sprained his wrist and left the game, not to return.
The Lakers were already up big when Jokic got the heave-ho for arguing a no-call after he felt he was pushed to the ground. Malone didn’t think his best player should have been tossed so he said some things that were actually worth an ejection.
Millsap’s x-rays came back negative and he’s questionable tonight. The Nuggets are reasonably deep up front so they will manage without much of a problem without Millsap, who is still trying to find his role with his new team.
That said, the Nuggets have struggled mightily on the road this season. They’re 2–5 away from the Pepsi Center and this isn’t something new. Denver kills it at home and then just looks like one of the ten worst teams in the Association whenever it goes elsewhere.
Lonzo Ball dropped a triple-double on them last night and Julius Randle scored 24 off the bench. It’s as if once the other team gets rolling, Denver is just unable to do anything to stop it.
So the best approach would be not to let the Sacramento Kings get rolling at all. The Kings won a nice game at home after getting embarrassed in Atlanta. Then, they played the same Trail Blazer team they beat the night before in Portland and lost by a dozen.
It was the ninth loss in a row for the Kings away from home. They are a .500 team at the Smoothie King Center so far this season, though.
There just isn’t any scoring on this team. Willie Cauley-Stein is having 20-point nights because there just aren’t any other options. DeAaron Fox continues to look like a player. It will be a treat to see he and Will Barton go at it in this game.
Otherwise, there isn’t a whole lot to look forward to. It’s just going to be a question of if the Kings can be so bad that the Nuggets win a game away from Denver.

Free Denver Nuggets vs. Sacramento Kings NBA Prediction: Denver wins, Sacramento covers.
Seven is a big number for a team that can’t play on the road and is coming off a loss like the Nuggets took last night. Then again, pride is on the line tonight in Sacramento. Denver really can’t lose this game, and it knows it, but I just can’t envision it coming easy.
