Denver Nuggets
I know Denver is not in the absolute bottom tier of the league but I don’t like the way this team is constructed. At least with some bad teams (like Minnesota) you can see the ceiling but this group does not have it.
Despite that criticism the Nuggets were impressive in beating up the Clippers last night. They were at home though, where they always play better and often have an advantage.

The scored 123 points in the victory and really spread it around with 4 players scoring either 18 or 19. Nikola Jokic, who I always think is underused put up 19 and 10 in just 21 minutes.
Even though the team played well last night Emmanuel Mudiay was a no show. He was 0 for 8 from the field. He is not usually that bad but he is not getting better as far as I can see.
In contrast vet Jameer Nelson had eight assists and the team was +20 with him on the court. Truly the only reason Mudiay sees the court is because the team is out of it. He always makes me nervous in backing Denver.
Denver is 11-10 ATS on the road but I struggle to try and figure this group out.
Minnesota Timberwolves
There is no doubting this team has some talent, but when are the wins going to come. I thought Tibs was supposed to make this group into a true team.
If you ask GMs to take a player, not named LeBron to start a team with you would get a lot of support for KAT – Karl-Anthony Towns. His numbers speak for themselves and the best part of it is that they are kind of effortless. They don’t force feed him and he doesn’t force it either.
He is just really good and getting better.
KAT has gotten so good that he is naturally taking attention away from Andrew Wiggins, something that is not easy to do from a 20ppg scorer and one of the best athletes in the league.
Also, not far behind them in term of production is Zach LeVine, another primo athlete. That trio averages more than 60ppg. Not a lot of teams have a threesome like that.
Minnesota has a dilemma with PG Ricky Rubio. He is unselfish which is great but he basically can’t shoot. That makes it harder for the aforementioned group.

Rookie Kris Dunn gives them a nice defensive presence but his offense has not materialized yet either. That deficit is glaring. They need a PG who can make an outside shot.
Minnesota is always frustrating too. The talent is there but they still lose a lot. The are 12-10 ATS at home.
