The Nuggets will be on the road for the 6th in their first 7 games and will be up against a banged up Grizzlies team that is looking to find some rhythm.
Of their expected starting five, the Grizzlies have had 4 of the 5 miss time but should have all of them in the lineup on Tuesday – despite their injuries.
For a team that normally benefits from a significant home court advantage, the Nuggets have had a tough schedule to start with 6 of their first 7 games on the road.
This will be the end of that tough road schedule to start – as 8 of their next 11 games to finish November will be at home.
A well balanced offensive attack has led the Nuggets to a 3-3 start. They have had four of their starters start every game and they are all averaging more than 10 points per game.
However, they could be without both Will Barton and Wilson Chandler for this matchup with Memphis. Barton is battling an ankle injury and Chandler left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury.
Barton has been out for the last three games and luckily Gary Harris, Jr has returned to the rotation. He started last time out but Denver has been easing him back in after he missed the first four games of the season.
Yet, with Barton not playing, Chandler leaving the game, and Harris, Jr. getting eased back into action, the Nuggets were still able to go on the road to Boston and dominate a supposed Eastern Conference contender.
Led by Emmanuel Mudiay’s 24 first quarter points, the Nuggets jumped out to a 42-23 first quarter lead and never looked back.
They will need that type of energy and production from Mudiay as well as their other guards if they are without Barton and Chandler.
Harris, Jr. was effective in his 22 minutes Sunday and you should see an uptick in his time going forward.
Danilo Gallinari contributed 16 points in the starting lineup but the 52 points off of the bench – 22 from Chandler – provided the difference.
The strong Memphis defense could provide some issues for the young core of Denver scorers but it will be interesting to see which team’s injuries are more of a hindrance.
It is a bit unfair to evaluate Memphis’s early season results as they have been facing a number of different injuries and haven’t had ample time to gel in their first unit.
They should be with their whole starting lineup Tuesday as Chandler Parsons returned to the lineup Sunday and Tony Allen returned to the game after departing in the first half.
Parsons struggled mightily in his first game back going 0 for 8 with zero points and 2 turnovers in 22 minutes of action.
Surely he will improve from that game but it could take some time for his contribution to be impactful.
As usual, Mike Conley, Jr has been the Grizzlies primary playmaker but to start this season, he has also been their primary scorer.
Conley is averaging 20.8 points and 6.7 assists per game through Memphis’s first 7 games.
The Grizzlies have lost two straight and have had their 3 wins this season against the Wizards, Wolves, and Pelicans – who have combined to win two games this season.
The veterans on this Grizzlies team are plentiful and should continue to be committed to defense – even if the offense struggles.
Look for Conley and Marc Gasol to lead the way in getting this team into a rhythm as their experience and depth should be able to limit the energy of the younger Nuggets team.

Also, Mudiay has been great for the Nuggets but should be limited by Conley – one of the better defensive point guards in the NBA.
