(36-40) Denver Nuggets vs. Houston Rockets (52-25)
It’s a key Western conference showdown on Wednesday night at the Toyota Center. The Denver Nuggets finish up their five game road trip when they take on the Houston Rockets.
Both teams come into this game having gone 1-3 in their last four games. This is the fourth match up of the year between the two teams. The Houston Rockets have won the previous three match ups.
The Denver Nuggets have reached the point in the season where every game is a must win. They come into this game in 9th place in the Western Conference.
They are currently 1.5 games behind the Portland Trail Blazers who are in 8th place. They do have one less game played then the Trail Blazers so they do have that going for them.
The Nuggets come into this game struggling a bit as of late. They are 1-3 in their last four games. In their last game they did beat the Miami Heat 116-113.
The Nuggets problems as of late have been on the defensive side of the floor. They have given up at least 109 points in each of their last nine games.
To win this game the Nuggets need two things to happen.
They need to play good defense, and they need to close out the game strong. They need to find a way to slow down the pace of play to have a chance in this game.
They also need to close out this game. In their last two games against the Rockets they could have won both of the games, but they had a terrible close to both games which led them to losing both.
The Houston Rockets come into this game struggling as well. They have lost three of their last four games. They had a problem scoring points in those games and that led to their failures.
The biggest thing for the Rockets right now is they need to get healthy before the playoffs start. Ryan Anderson is out until at least mid April with a sprained ankle.
In their last game Sam Dekker broke his hand and is out until mid may, which is really going to hurt them come playoff time.
But the main guy they need healthy is James Harden.
He is dealing with a lingering wrist injury and he did sit out of last game. If he isn’t 100 percent I wouldn’t be surprised if he sits out this game too.
He doesn’t want to miss games so he will push to play but the Rockets really need him healthy for the playoffs.

I am making this prediction assuming James Harden is playing. I think Denver will come out motivated in this game and hungry, knowing how big this game is for them.

But I don’t think it will be enough. I think the Rockets have too much talent and they will win the game. Although the Rockets win I think the Nuggets will keep it close.
