Monday, November 28th the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors meet for the second of four scheduled matches this season. The teams opened the season versus each other in Toronto with the Raptors winning 108-105.
Cleveland will host the next two meetings on December 23rd and February 26th.
The Cavaliers enter to finish a back-to-back set having played Sunday in a 102-94 win versus the Pistons while the Raptors played Saturday defeating the Mavericks 105-100.
Last season, the squads played four times with Cleveland taking three of the four contests. The Cavaliers hold the all-time record having bested the Raptors in 53 of their 101 matches.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers almost got caught in the trap game versus the Pistons on Sunday needing a 29-16 final frame to pull ahead and collect the win.
J.B. Bickerstaff had to play his starters late into the game which could become a factor Monday, albeit they’ll face a decimated Raptors team (who MIGHT be getting back some core players).
Donovan Mitchell led the way scoring 32 points while Evan Mobley (20 points, 13 rebounds) and Darius Garland (19 points, 10 assists) each registered double-doubles.
Offensively, Cleveland scores 114.2 points per game which ranks 12th while they rank eighth both for shooting 48.0 percent from the field and 39.1 percent perimeter.
Cleveland allows opponents to score an average of 107.4 points per game with ranks fifth-best. The Cavaliers limit their foes to 45.8 percent from the field ranking eighth while opponents shoot 36.3 percent from the perimeter ranking 20th.
Caris LeVert (ankle), Jarrett Allen (back), Kevin Love (thumb), and Lamar Stevens (illness) are questionable for Monday. Dylan Windler (ankle) and Ricky Rubio (knee) are out indefinitely.
Toronto Raptors
Fred VanVleet returned to the lineup on Saturday after dealing with a flu that caused him to be in and out of games over several days He was a welcome addition as six rotational players remained sidelined.
Nick Nurse finally had a bit of success against Luka Doncic and while the superstar still delivered 24 points it was below his seasonal average (33.4).
The Raptors coach took some heat on Twitter over sending so many double-teams at Doncic but there was a method to his madness. Toronto held the Mavs below their season perimeter average of 34% (they shot 11 of 39 for 28.2%).
OG Anunoby was the primary defender on Luka and said the goal was to limit his field goal attempts – check that box as Doncic averages 22.6 per game but in both games against the Raps he attempted a season-low 15.
On offense, the Raptors score 111.4 points per game (19th) shooting 44.5% from the field (27th) and 33.0% from deep (25th).
Defensively, the Raptors allow 109.6 opponent points per game ranking (8th) while they shoot 48.4% (27th) from the field and 35.8% from deep (16th).
Dalano Banton (ankle), Scottie Barnes (knee), and Justin Champagnie (back) are listed as questionable while Otto Porter Jr. (toe) is out Monday. Pascal Siakam (groin) and Precious Achiuwa (ankle) are listed as out indefinitely.

Free Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
The Cavaliers didn’t have Jarrett Allen or Caris LeVert on Sunday but may have been hedging their bets by resting them an extra game since facing Detroit on the front side of the back-to-back.
Likewise, Siakam is listed as out on the injury report, but he (and Barnes/Banton) participated in full practices this weekend.
