They tip the NBA late in Canada. Two days after the NBA officially opened with the Celtics and Cavs on Tuesday night, the Raptors will play their first game of the season, hosting the Chicago Bulls who are also playing their first game.
The Bulls are not supposed to be very good this season. They could even be the worst team in the NBA, projected to win somewhere between 20 and 25 games, depending on whom or what you ask.
The biggest reason why is the departure of Jimmy Butler, who was traded to Minnesota for basically nothing.
Dwayne Wade and Rajon Rondo also left from a team that underachieved all season until they nearly knocked the Celtics out of the playoffs in what would have been an 8-1 upset.
That leaves almost no leadership on a young team, which makes it less surprising that there was an altercation at practice on Tuesday between Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic.
Two of the nothing Chicago acquired from Minnesota will fill starting roles this season, Kris Dunn at the point guard spot and Zach LaVine on one of the wings.
Robin Lopez and Bobby Portis are two high-energy big men who can rebound the ball but have shooting deficiencies. Justin Holiday will start at the two.
The Raptors were quiet in the offseason while two of their biggest hurdles were trying to make their teams better. The Cavaliers made some nice signings but lost Kyrie Irving; the Celtics got a whole lot better but just lost Gordon Hayward on Tuesday night.
The race for the number two seed in the East is on already.
DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry return as the quality regular season scoring punch in the backcourt that they have been for the last several seasons. Norman Powell will start on the wing after showing some quality improvement and good potential in a tweeter role last year.
Serge Ibaka and Jonas Valenciunas return to a team that bowed out to Cleveland in the East semis a year ago. Toronto will miss PJ Tucker, acquired mid-season only to go out and sign with the Houston Rockets ahead of this one.
CJ Miles will take his spot as primary bench scorer and defender. The Raptors need help off the pine, though.

Free Chicago Bulls vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
The Raptors feel very familiar by now. They are a quality team that plays well at home and will take care of just about all the bad teams in the East — Chicago very much included.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: OVER 205.5
The Bulls will not win this game so it just comes down to how badly the beatdown is. Toronto feels like about a 10-12 point victor in this one.
