Chicago is back to being one of the NBA’s worst. The Bulls went through that prolonged stretch of winning, which, amazingly, only got Chicago back into the pack of teams with the worst record in the league.
Six losses in a row have the Bulls just three games up on Atlanta and two up on the Magic in the loss column for the worst record in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks have been winning; it’s surprising Orlando isn’t further down.
Chicago made one of the first moves of the deadline action when it sent Nikola Mirotic to New Orleans for a first round pick in this summer’s NBA Draft.
The Bulls also re-acquired Omer Asik, along with Tony Allen and Jameer Nelson, all expendable veterans who won’t be with the team long-term. None of them figure to impact the rest of this season.
The pick gives the Bulls what will be a late-ish selection to go along with what could turn out to be a top-five pick of their own. They should be able to grab two good prospects to add to their budding young core.
Lauri Markkanen won’t play in this game. He had a baby boy the other day and couldn’t get out of Chicago on his commercial flight due to inclement weather. The Bulls just opted to leave him at home for the game.
The Kings are also right in the mix, along with Chicago, for the first pick in the draft. Sacramento has the worst record in the West with 36 losses. Only Atlanta has more.
There are ten teams, five in each conference, with 30+ losses and they all feel like they’re in the mix to finish high in the lottery: LA, Phoenix, Memphis, Dallas and Sacramento in the West; New York, Brooklyn, Chicago, Atlanta and Orlando in the East.
If the goal is to get the first pick in the draft, the Kings have made good use of their home stand since coming back home off of a frustrating 3–3 road trip. Sac-Town is 0–2 thus far with two more to go, this one and Portland next.

Free Chicago Bulls vs. Sacramento Kings NBA Prediction: Sacramento wins at home.
The Kings haven’t been quite as awful as we’re used to them being of late. Chicago is awfully thin without Markkanen and Mirotic so I’m going to play the home team in what should be a high-scoring game between two bad teams.
