Chicago finds itself a couple of games out of the playoffs with just a handful of games to go. As a result, pretty much every game is a must win.
Memphis is much more secure but the way they have been playing nothing is guaranteed.
Both of these teams are pretty battered but will try and put forth strong efforts on Tuesday night.
When they are at full strength it is easy to see how the Bulls can be formidable opponent. The backcourt of Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler can be pretty darn good and Pau Gasol gives them frontcourt scoring options.
However, getting all three of those players on the floor at the same time is the team’s greatest challenge and as they head into this must win game they are likely to be without Rose.
Fortunately the injuries throughout the season have opened up opportunities for the likes of Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic.
Jimmy Butler is probably one of the 10 best players in the game with an ability to be a force on the offensive and defensive ends. More recently he is taking on more playmaking when Rose is out of the lineup.
Chicago needs this one but they have not been a good road team all season long.
The Grizzlies might be a team that everyone wants to play in the playoffs but at least it looks like they will be in the bracket.
Thanks to injury this team is a shell of what it could be. Marc Gasol and his primary backup Brandan Wright are out for the season and Mike Conley is being saved for the playoffs. Things have gotten so thin they are actually counting on Tony Allen to score.
Even with these injuries Memphis is still a strong defensive team that does not give an inch. With players like Allen, Matt Barnes, Lance Stephenson and Chris Anderson receiving regular minutes you feel it the next day.
Making the game as bloody as possible is their best way to win and they don’t mind doing it.
Stephenson has come on late in the season as his minutes have risen. I am a fan of him as a role player but if you are going to make him your lead dog you are in trouble. Sometimes I think he will get ejected in the first quarter.
The Grizzlies have a three game cushion on their playoff spot so another win or two is still required. Expect this team to be feisty.
