The Charlotte Hornets were able to pull out the win over the Milwaukee Bucks in their season opener (final score 107-96.) While the Miami Heat were also able to come away as victors over the Orlando Magic.
But now as both teams sit undefeated at 1-0, they’re both looking to take away their adversaries unblemished record.
The Hornets inked star forward Nicolas Batum to a new 5-year $120 million deal in the offseason, making him and Kemba Walker the co “faces of the franchise” for the Charlotte Hornets.
Yet despite that, they did lose some key additions to last season’s success in Jeremy Lin and Al Jefferson. But they did their best in bringing in guys that can help replicate what those two did for the franchise.
In Roy Hibbert coach Steve Clifford found another reclamation project, similar to that of Al Jefferson before he got together with the genius head coach.
And so far it looks like it’s working, as Roy Hibbert put up 15 points in his Hornets debut.
But he wasn’t the only one getting in on the action, as Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had himself quite the game going off for 23 points, 14 rebounds and 1 assist in his first game back with Charlotte Hornets after an injury riddled 2015/16 season.
The Miami Heat lost their franchise centerpiece in Dwayne Wade, as he chose to go back home and play for the Chicago Bulls. With that it made the upcoming season look bleak for Heat fans.
But Pat Riley stepped up, signing guys that could help alleviate some off the scoring burden off of Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic.
He chose to bring back Tyler Johnson as a Manu Ginobili type scorer off the bench. While also signing Dion Waiters as someone who can put up points in a hurry either as a starter or a reserve.
So Pat Riley made sure he found the talent he needed at the shooting guard spot. But that wasn’t the biggest move he made.
The biggest thing he did this offseason was allow Justice Winslow to get the minutes he needs in order to succeed this year.
The Miami Heat don’t have a lot of options at small forward position, leaving Winslow as the recipient for more touches and minutes.

Free Charlotte Hornets vs. Miami Heat NBA Predictions:
The Miami Heat have a new make-up as a team, and that means relying on Goran Dragic, Hassan Whiteside and Justice Winslow to score for them more often.
With that, it’s going to take time for the team to adjust. But the Hornets on the other hand already know what they’re going to do, and that’s play good defense and score opportunistic points.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: OVER 198
The Charlotte Hornets put up 107 points against a tough Milwaukee defense. So look for them to score around that much or less, in this game against a weaker defensive unit in the Miami Heat.
