Charlotte Hornets
Michael Jordan established himself during his playing days as the greatest of all-time. Taking it one step further, he remains the GOAT in the eyes of most fans and analysts despite guys like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James during their best to overtake that prestigious title.
Off the court, however, Jordan’s brand has become sneakers and internet memes since his retirement. There’s also his questionable decisions as a general manager and owner to discuss…but as far as this writing is concerned, we’re focusing on those pesky memes.

This season, Jordan became infamous once against for rallying a North Carolina crowd with the quote of the year: “The ceiling is the roof.”
Although the sentiment is there, meaning there is no limit to your potential, there’s a “wait, what?” factor at play when you consider A) The ceiling is not in fact the roof, B) That places an actual limit on your potential, and C) He almost certainly meant to say “The sky is the limit.”
How does this translate to his Hornets? Charlotte entered the season just like that crowd listening to Jordan rally the troops. They were pumped up, on a roll and had no potential.
Then, they came crashing down to earth, just like anybody in that crowd that realized Jordan was talking absolute nonsense.
Entering this contest, Charlotte is just 36-34 and is already eliminate from playoff contention.
So here’s a saying that actually makes sense as for as the Hornets are concerned: “Winning is losing and losing is winning.”
Don’t get it? Think about ping-pong balls.
The rest of this season is about draft positioning for Charlotte.
Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta Falcons fans aren’t likely to forget about their 25-point lead they gave up in the second half of the Super Bowl, but Sunday saw the Hawks gives fans in the ATL at least a smidgen of vindication.
Sunday night the Hawks took on the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers and trailed by 26 points in the fourth quarter. Miraculously, the Hawks found a way to come back and force overtime en route to a one-point victory.

Of course, a regular-season comeback doesn’t outweigh the important of a Super Bowl debacle. But what it does do is give a team that desperately needs confidence something to hang its hat on entering the postseason.
Although the Hawks have clinched a playoff berth, they won’t have home-court advantage in Round 1. And on top of that, it wasn’t even a guarantee this squad would qualify for the postseason a couple of weeks ago with the fifth through ninth seeds all seemingly up for grabs.
A win over Cleveland gives Atlanta reason to believe it can take down anyone in the playoffs. That’s as important as just about anything this time of year, and even more so when you know you’ll be opening your initial series with two games on the road.
