Knicks Stats
New York ranked 27th offensively (104.8), fourth defensively (101.8), while producing the tenth-best net rating (+3.0), running a pace of 100.7, which ranked 27th last season.
Mike Brown put a priority on improving the offense, and part of that equation is taking Jalen Brunson off the ball more. That was a factor in the preseason when he was assisted on more shots than he had in any game since becoming a Knick.

Here is my Celtics Knicks free pick. These two clubs are on opposite ends of the spectrum, with Boston having shaken up the roster to lower their taxes. In contrast, the Knicks brought back all the key players and added depth to the rotation.
Pace remains an issue for the Knicks particularly in terms of how deep they get into the shot clock. They are making a concerted effort to shoot sooner (per John Schuhmann they took 22% of their shots in the last six seconds of the shot clock in 2024/25).
While games between these clubs are typically competitive, the Knicks will be eager to showcase just how wide the margin is between the teams as they seek to sit atop the East.
That said, I’m rolling with the Celts to have a better effort than the opener, and while I expect New York to win, I’m taking the points and Boston to keep things close.
