It’s an Eastern Conference showdown between two teams who are probably going to be fighting for one of the last Eastern conference playoff spots, so this is a big game even with it being so early on.
The Atlanta Hawks make the trip to AmericanAirlines Arena to take on the Miami Heat. These two teams played four times last year with each team winning two of the games.
Coming into this season not many people knew what to expect out of this Atlanta Hawks team, and if we have learned anything from the first two games is they are going to be wildly inconsistent, not only in games but through out the season.
In their last game against the Hornets they were up by ten points at points during the first half, but then the lack of talent in the second half showed up and they ended up losing 109-91.
The one thing that this team is probably going to have issues with is scoring points. When it’s crunch time they really don’t have a guy who you know will make a big bucket.
The clear leader for this team is Dennis Schroder who has been strong so far this season. He comes into this game averaging 26.5 points per game.
The one thing to watch in this game is how their legs hold up. They will be playing a game on Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets, one that is probably going to be played at a fast pace.
They are going to need to have their full legs though against a Heat team that is very aggressive, and will attack if they sense tired legs.
On the other side of this match up is the Miami Heat who also come into this game with a 1-1 record. After losing the first game of the season against Orlando Magic, they bounced back in their last game and beat the Indiana Pacers 112-108.
It’s kind of a surprise so far this season how the Heat have struggled on the defensive end. Hassan Whiteside has done good on the defensive end but the rest of the team hasn’t been able to step up around him.
The last couple of years the Heat have struggled with injuries, and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change this year.
Hassan Whiteside sat out the last game with a bruised knee. He is officially questionable for this game and if he isn’t able to go it changes the whole lookout of the game.
