The Ducks just topped the Oilers in the regular season, finishing 1st in the Pacific with 105 points and two ahead of Edmonton. The Oilers, however, managed one more win on the year.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers performed well in the first round against another tough divisional opponent in San Jose, eventually winning game-6 by a two goal margin to win the series 4-2.
They received excellent contributions from depth forwards such as Zack Kassian (two game winners) and David Desharnais (game-5 OT winner).

Connor McDavid will be the focal point yet again, to the surprise of nobody. McDavid looked dangerous throughout the Sharks series and finished with the team-lead in points with four in six games in his first ever NHL playoff series.
Cam Talbot may have been the team’s MVP for round-1, earning two shutouts and starting every game. Talbot enters round-2 with a .927 SV% and a 2.03 GAA in the 2016-17 playoffs, after a tremendous regular season as well.
Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks have a solid veteran core group with a ton of postseason experience, but it’s not to overshadow the contributions that rookies Shea Theodore and Brandon Montour made in round-1.
Theodore accumulated more minutes on the backend and finished with five points, which is tied for team-best.
Ryan Getzlaf looked excellent, starring on the big stage which is a familiar trait for the Ducks’ captain.
Getzlaf enters the Edmonton series tied with Theodore and talented scorer, Rickard Rakell, for the team-lead in points with five apiece.

John Gibson will need to continue his strong save percentage into what should be a more difficult matchup against the Oilers’ firepower.
Gibson has a .926 SV% and a 2.53 GAA through his four 2017 postseason games.

Free Game 1 Edmonton Oilers vs. Anaheim Ducks NHL Playoff Prediction:
The Ducks have been incredible at home this year, earning victories 72% of the time at the Honda Center. After closing out the Flames in a four-game sweep, the Ducks have had some more time off to rest than the Oilers, so may come out with some fresher legs.
4* Free NHL Game 1 Betting Pick: Anaheim -130
I like Anaheim to take the first game at home and apply the pressure early to the Oilers.
