The Virginia Cavaliers will look to start the 2019 season 2-0 Friday night when they play host to William & Mary. Virginia made light work of Pitt in the season opener, winning 30-14 on the road.
The Tribe will also be looking for a second consecutive win after edging the Lafayette Leopards 17- 30 last week at home.
Kick-off is at 8:00 this Friday night at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia.
William & Mary Tribe
The Tribe was able to regroup in the final two quarters against Lafayette last week after hitting the locker room down 10-6 after the first half.
William & Mary picked up a total of 21 first downs in the game, converting on 10 of 19 on third down. The Tribe racked up a total of 418 yards in the contest, 255 of which were on the ground, running the ball 58 times.

While quarterback Kilton Anderson wasn’t exactly anything to write home about, he did complete four of his eight attempts for 100 yards. Zach Burdick was the leading receiver, hauling in two grabs for 60 yards.
Hollis Mathis took on the role of workhorse for the William & Mary offense, carrying the ball 16 times for 127 yards and a touchdown.
If there was one solid from the Tribe’s defense, it would have to be their nose for the ball. As a squad, the defense created four turnovers in the game, three forced fumbles and an interception. Granted, the boys were playing the Lafayette Leopards.
William & Mary gave up a combined 368 total yards in the game, 254 through the air. Against the run, the Tribe gave up an average of 3.1 yards per carry.
Virginia Cavaliers
The Virginia Cavaliers were able to score 17 unanswered points in the second half in their season opener against Pitt, leading to a 30-14 victory.
The offense moved the chains on seven of their 15 third-down attempts, acquiring 20 first downs in the game. Virginia gained 310 yards of total offense in week one, 181 of them coming through the air.

When keeping the ball on the ground, the Cavaliers averaged 3.9 yards per carry, galloping for 129 yards on 33 attempts.
Quarterback Bryce Perkins was able to hit on 20 of his 34 passes, picking up 181 yards to go along with two touchdowns. Husise Dubois was the leading receiver with four receptions leading to 45 yards and a score.
Wayne Taulapapa was able to run the ball for over six yards a carry, picking up a total of 66 yards and finding the endzone once.
On the defensive side of the ball, Virginia gave up 263 total yards, 185 of them passing. While Zane Zandier led the Cavaliers with nine tackles, Joey Blount was an absolute stud last week.
The safety had seven tackles, two sacks, and was able to haul in an interception. If William & Mary wants to be effective passing the ball Friday night, they will definitely need to know where Blount is at all times.

Free Week 2 NCAA Football Pick
I like Virginia’s chances at home this Friday. As I mentioned earlier, they will be the stronger of the two teams William & Mary will have played.
The Cavaliers were able to control the ball almost ten minutes longer than Pitt last week. I think that margarin will be even higher after this week’s game.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Virginia by 28
The Tribe simply isn’t balanced enough on offense to be a serious threat with the ball. If Virginia’s defensive line can control the line of scrimmage when they are on the field, something they should have no problem doing, their offense will have no problem scoring enough points to come away on top.
