West Virginia and Texas have flip-flopped wins in each of the last four years, with the road team coming out victorious each time. That bodes well for WVU, even as nearly a TD underdog in Austin on Saturday.
Both teams come in off a win, and one in which they put up some hefty points as WVU scored 37 and Texas 41. Does that make the total of 55 for this game seem very much on the low side?
West Virginia Mountaineers
West Virginia could be a bit vulnerable going on the road, considering they’ve played 3 of the last 4 in Morgantown. The one trip away from their own facilities resulted in a 34-27 loss at Texas Tech when WVU was a -2.5 favorite.
The Mountaineers are actually allowing 30.5 ppg in their two road losses this season. The other defeat going away was a 27-13 at Oklahoma State but when West Virginia was a +5.5 underdog in week 4.
The Mountaineers bounced back well from the Texas Tech loss though, handing Kansas State a 37-10 loss in Morgantown last week. K-State has been starting a freshman QB the last couple weeks, but were still ranked 16th.
It was an all-around win for WVU, as the defense held KSU to 41 yards rushing on 23 carries while Wildcats QB Will Howard threw 3 INTs. Jarrett Doege threw for 300+ for WVU and the Mountaineers added 184 on the ground.
Expect a very big day for the Texas offense considering West Virginia has given up an average of 30 ppg in their two road contests. That coincides nicely with the Longhorns putting up 39.0 ppg and 500+ yards at home this season.
Texas does have momentum with two wins in a row following the disappointing 53-45 OT loss to rival Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown in week 6.
The Longhorns had another OT contest last week, outlasting Oklahoma State 41-34 on the road as +3.5 underdogs. A lot of people are wondering just how Texas won that game with just 169 yards passing and only 118 on the ground.
OK State QB Spencer Sanders was definitely good enough to win against Texas with a 400+ yard, 4 TD day. Sam Ehlinger countered with 3 TDs for Texas, but a Sanders INT to go with 3 lost fumbles was too much for the Cowboys.

Free Week 10 NCAA Football Prediction:
This series has played havoc on gamblers with the home team being an underdog in three of the last four. West Virginia plus the points would get the lean, but this is almost assuredly a high scoring affair.
