HISTORY: Washington State and Oregon State have a very extensive history, meeting in nearly every season since 1910. Wazzu leads the all-time series 56-47, after eight matchups in a row.
Washington State Cougars
Washington State looks pretty good this season. The Cougars picked up three non-conference victories, with strong road win over Wisconsin standing out. They split their first two Pac-12 games with a loss to Oregon and a win over Cal, but they found themselves in trouble in Los Angeles last weekend.
In Week 6, Washington State lost to USC, 30-14, dropping to 4-2 against the spread this season.
Washington State scores 27.2 points per game, while allowing 20.1 ppg.
Cameron Ward has come in and made a strong transfer from FCS to Power 5 play. The Incarnate Word transfer threw for 340+ yards in his first two Pac-12 games, and after a rough outing versus Southern Cal, look for him to bounce back in Corvallis this weekend.
Ward has thrown for 1,617 passing yards with 15 touchdowns to seven interceptions through his first six starts as a Cougar.
Wazzu takes the pass-first approach, but Nakia Watson has made the best of his opportunities, gaining 325 rushing yards and catching 14 passes.
Ward has distributed the ball pretty well early. Donovan Ollie leads the team in receptions (31) and receiving yards (333), while De’Zhaun Stribling has 25 catches, 314 yards, and a team-leading four touchdowns. Fifth-year Renard Bell missed the SC game, and has 14 catches for 201 yards in the two Pac-12 games.
Oregon State Beavers
Oregon State has jumped out to a 3-0 start, that includes three quality non-conference wins over Boise, Fresno, and Montana State. The Beavers opened Pac-12 play by hosting USC, and despite the final result, they played the Trojans extremely well, leading for the majority of the game and covering the six-point spread. Jonathan Smith’s team didn’t get as lucky last weekend when they traveled to Salt Lake City for a revenge matchup.
In Week 6, Oregon State defeated Stanford, 28-27, dropping to 4-2 ATS this season..
Oregon State scores 32.5 points per game, while allowing 27.1 ppg.
A pair of rough outings have placed Chance Nolan on the bench in favor of Ben Gulbranson. Nolan’s six interceptions in Oregon State’s two conference losses to USC and Utah led to the change, and a big fourth quarter from Gulbranson prevented OSU from dropping their third straight game to open Pac-12 play. The redshirt freshman quarterback threw a pair of touchdown passes in the final period in Palo Alto, providing a bit of optimism for the quarterback position.
Gulbranson threw for 250 yards and two scores in the win over Stanford.
Deshaun Fenwick leads the team in rushing after coming over from South Carolina last season. The veteran back has scored in each of the first four games of the season and he rushed for 331 yards thus far. Georgia Tech transfer Jam Griffin has complimented him with 261 yards.
Tre’shaun Harrison has been the number one option this season, leading the team in receptions (31) and yards (441), and catching the game-winning touchdown versus Stanford. Sophomore wideout Anthony Gould has added 20 catches for 351 yards, while Luke Musgrave’s, who is one of the best tight ends in the Pac 12, absence has been glaring.

Free Week 7 NCAA Football Final Analysis:
The Cougars will come into this one with an advantage at the QB spot and they’re much more battle-tested. Wazzu went into Madison and defeated a tough Wisconsin team, and despite the final result, they played USC well at the Coliseum.
Cam Ward is a star in the making, while the Beavers just demoted starter Chance Nolan. They got extremely lucky versus Stanford, and the Cougs won’t allow that here. This one should come down to the fourth quarter, with the superior quarterback play coming through for the visitors.
