NC State’s injury situation is the deciding factor for me. Losing its leading rusher and several offensive linemen changes how comfortably the Wolfpack can operate, particularly when they’re trying to protect a lead or convert short-yardage situations.
I expect NC State to be more selective with its possessions. Shorter throws, a little patience and fewer unnecessary risks make more sense than inviting a possession-for-possession shootout.
I’m betting that NC State’s offensive limitations will matter more than either team’s recent scoring highlights.
Wake Forest is dangerous enough to threaten this total on its own, and that’s the obvious concern. But a big number also needs cooperation from both offenses. I don’t see the Wolfpack consistently providing it.
Give me a few extended drives that finish with punts or FG’s, and we’re in business. I’ve been betting football long enough to know the clock can be your best friend when you’re holding an Under ticket. My play is Under 59.5.
