These teams are looking to continue strong starts and keep pace with Miami in the division. Either one could win it too.
North Carolina kind of escaped against Boston College last week but perhaps they needed a bit of a wake up call.
Virginia Tech is getting healthier week by week and will be dangerous on the road.
Virginia Tech Hokies
There are still a lot of unknowns with Virginia Tech right now. With absence due to illness it is much harder to know the state of players.
Starting quarterback Hendon Hooker has not played yet this season and is still the injured list this week. Without him they have changed their approach.
Virginia Tech is averaging more than 300 yards rushing per game this season. Khalil Herbert, the transfer from Kansas rushed for more than 200 yards last week against Duke.
I would like to see more from the Hokies defense this week but it is going to be tough taking on a North Carolina offense that is very efficient and versatile.
Virginia Tech is playing well but if the massive personnel losses continue it might be hard to keep it up.
North Carolina Tar Heels
North Carolina is supposed to dominate this season. They have won both of their games but dominating is not the word I would use to describe.
The defense has been alright but the offense was supposed to be more productive with Sam Howell and all those skills players back in the mix.
Howell has been inconsistent and already has three interceptions on the season. If he keeps turning the ball over they are going to find it tough to beat the good teams.
The North Carolina defense has been pretty sharp and they are first against the run yielding just 54 yards per game so far. BC likes to run the ball and they held them to 40 yards last week.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Pick
The question for North Carolina is whether they can start living up to the hype. I think they can get there. They just needed to shake off some of the rust.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: North Carolina -4.5
So far North Carolina has been winning its clunkers. That is what they have to do but with this game we get a sense of their ability to be a lot more than just good.
Virginia Tech does appear to be on an upward trajectory but they are not quite there in the ACC just yet. Fade them here.
