Utah enters this contest as the No. 11 team in the country. UCLA enters as No. 18.
The Utes lost their Week 1 matchup against the Florida Gators, 29-26, but they have bounced back winning four straight and earning that No. 11 ranking.
UCLA remains undefeated at 5-0, having beaten the then-ranked No. 15 Washington Huskies, 40-32.
Utah Utes
Last week’s win was a convincing one for Utah against an Oregon State team that could have presented as a real threat. The Beavers were coming off a close loss to the USC Trojans and had looked like they were ready to embrace the role of spoiler all season. But Utah had other thoughts.
The game started with a Utah 21-13 lead by halftime but rolled into a 42-16 beatdown when it was all said and done.
UCLA leads this head-to-head series all-time with a record of 11-8, but Utah has had the recent edge going 5-0 straight up in the last five meetings. The Utes have scored at least 41 points in each of those contests, three of which have been at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
UCLA Bruins
UCLA’s win against Washington was downright impressive but the Bruins need to put that one behind them because Utah should prove a bigger challenge. Not only are the Utes looking better than Washington at this point mid-season, they’re also the second top-15 team UCLA will face in just two weeks. That adds up.
UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson needs to have another big game. He was excellent against Washington, completing 24 of his 33 passes for 315 yards and three scores through the air. The QB also managed 53 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and if he can keep the diverse attack going, the offense should be able to get going early and often even though the Utes give up just 14.4 points per game.
Right alongside the QB, the rest of UCLA’s offense has looked like real contenders. Dating back to last season, this group has won eight straight games, losing last on Oct. 30, 2021. That loss? It came to the Utah Utes, giving UCLA even more motivation to keep the streak alive.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Final Analysis:
This game, regardless of the outcome, has the potential to be one of the more entertaining, most competitive games of the week.
UCLA’s offense should find success even against a tough Utah defense giving up just 10.5 points per game over their last four. It won’t always come easy, but the flow should be there to keep the game going.
The catch for the Bruins will be slowing down Utah’s offense. If that proves problematic, a good game from both sides will still result in a Utah win.
