Aggies vs. Huskies Gameday
Utah State heads to Seattle for its first road game of the season against No. 17 Washington at Husky Stadium. The Aggies are 0-1 after a disappointing 29-17 loss to Idaho State, while Washington opened with a 24-10 Apple Cup victory over Washington State.
Utah State actually outgained Idaho State 407-241 and finished with 29 first downs, but four interceptions and three additional possessions stopped on downs proved costly. The Aggies now face a much tougher defensive assignment away from home.
Washington intercepted two passes and held Washington State scoreless through the first three quarters.
The Huskies didn’t produce a huge offensive day in their opener, but Demond Williams Jr. threw for 268 yards without an interception and also led Washington with 61 rushing yards. Washington broke open a 10-10 fourth-quarter game with two late touchdowns.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM ET on Big Ten Network. This is a nonconference matchup, so neither team’s conference record is at stake Saturday.

Utah State Aggies vs. Washington Huskies Odds & Last 5
Washington is one of the biggest favorites on Saturday’s board. The Huskies are laying around 26.5 to 27.5 points, while Utah State is priced around +1700 on the moneyline. The total is sitting at 55.5 at most books.
The market expects Washington to control the afternoon.
Utah State lost outright as a home favorite against Idaho State despite holding substantial advantages in yardage and first downs. Washington took care of Washington State by two touchdowns, with its defense keeping the Cougars off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter.
Huskies Stats
Washington opened the season with 402 total yards against Washington State. The Huskies threw for 268 yards and added 134 on the ground, producing 20 first downs while possessing the football for 29:16.
Demond Williams Jr. accounted for most of that production.
Williams completed 24 of 35 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown without an interception. He also led Washington with 61 rushing yards on seven carries and scored the Huskies’ first touchdown on a five-yard run.

Aggies Stats
Utah State’s 29-17 loss was strange because the Aggies controlled much of the statistical battle. They produced 407 total yards, including 245 passing and 162 rushing, and held the football for 33:33 while Idaho State finished with only 241 yards.
Four interceptions changed everything.
McCae Hillstead completed 15 of 30 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns but was intercepted three times. Grady Brosterhous went 5 of 13 for 67 yards and threw another interception in relief.
Javen Jacobs provided the most reliable production on the ground.
Jacobs rushed 20 times for 80 yards and added four catches for 27 yards. Eli Wood led the receiving group with six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown, while Demick Starling caught the other scoring pass.
Utah State’s defense allowed only 241 total yards and 14 first downs. The Aggies recorded two sacks and repeatedly forced Idaho State to settle for field goals, but the offense’s turnovers continually left the defense in difficult situations.

Aggies vs. Huskies QB Matchup
Demond Williams Jr. gives Washington the clear advantage in experience and Week 1 efficiency. The junior started all 13 games last season and opened 2026 without committing a turnover against Washington State.
His ability to create with his legs adds another problem for Utah State.
Williams led Washington in rushing in the Apple Cup while also completing better than 68 percent of his passes. He accounted for two touchdowns and avoided the mistakes that could have given Washington State short fields.
McCae Hillstead had a much rougher opener.
The Utah State starter threw two touchdown passes but was intercepted three times, with multiple turnovers coming after the Aggies had moved into scoring position. Brosterhous also threw an interception, giving Utah State four picks on 43 total pass attempts.
Hillstead remains the quarterback Utah State needs to settle behind against Washington. The Aggies moved the football with him in the opener, but protecting possession becomes even more important against a Huskies defense that already has two interceptions.
Utah State Aggies vs. Washington Huskies bottom line: Washington brings the more proven quarterback and stronger defense, while Utah State must eliminate the turnovers that wasted an otherwise productive offensive opener.
Utah State Aggies vs. Washington Huskies Football Betting Trends

- Also, Washington has won 28 of their last 30 games when favored.
- The Aggies have gone 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 games with totals of 50 or more.
- The Huskies have a 27-3 straight-up record in their last 30 home games.

Aggies Huskies Free Pick: Under 55.5
Here is my Aggies Huskies free pick: I’m playing Under 55.5 in Seattle. Washington should control this game, but Utah State’s best path is to slow things down and avoid another turnover mess.
The Huskies held Washington State to 142 passing yards and 10 points. They also recorded three sacks and two interceptions, a difficult matchup for Utah State after throwing four picks against Idaho State.
That turnover problem is the biggest concern for the Aggies.
Washington’s defense can dictate the pace and keep Utah State from producing enough points to threaten this total.
Utah State actually outgained Idaho State 407-241 and possessed the ball for more than 33 minutes. The Aggies simply wasted too many drives, turning it over four times and failing on three fourth-down attempts.
Washington doesn’t need to chase points here. Demond Williams Jr. was efficient in the Apple Cup, and the Huskies can lean on a controlled offense if they get ahead. That kind of script works for the Under.
Utah State should be more conservative after its opener, especially against a ranked opponent on the road. Washington’s defense gives me confidence the Aggies won’t contribute enough scoring.
I’ll trust the game script and the stronger defense. Give me Under 55.5.
